Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

I've been in a business conference all week and this is my first post since the news so sorry for being late to the party...but...do we provide the Pac with enough value to join them? Wouldn't they like to be playing games in the central time zone? Perhaps ISU, KU, Tech, oSu?

This f*cking blows, gang. This is some old timey Iowa State sh*t.

Why would they leave? Chances of Nebby leaving for an unstable Big 12 is zero. Chances of Colorado leaving for an unstable Big 12 is also zero.
Nebby has not enjoyed its time in the B1G by any means. They were complaining loudly about B1G leadership and threatened to sue. But I agree that it would take a bit more than just that.

I'd rather not enjoy my time in a stable, highly regarded conference, than somewhat enjoy my time in an unstable conference dependent on two universities.

I guess my only take on this is it's seemed somewhat inevitable, and I guess if it has to happen let it happen when we are at our football program's absolute peak. We will never be able to overcome our geographic/population issues, so I think we are about as marketable in realignment now as we will ever be.

and, again, it’s the short term implications that **** us over. I really think we have a shot to be a great football program. That’s very hard to maintain unless we are in a major conference.
This is exactly what I suspected is going on. Since we've been good(relatively speaking) the last four years you have this grand vision of Matt Campbell leading us to 11-1 records every year.

Explains why those of us who are alot bigger basketball fans than football aren't taking this near as hard.

Listening to Dan Patrick, a few things said.

1. He doesn't understand why Oklahoma would do this. Their path to a championship is easier in the big 12.

2. Albert Breer was on saying schools like Michigan and USC will be fine but schools like Iowa and Washington should be concerned if we go the route of super conferences.

The domino effect of this goes beyond the Big 12

I feel like OU might feel a bit rattled about Texas leaving, UT going indy would hurt OU. They may just see the writing on the wall and are making sure they are safe. I feel like they have been quieter than UT about this or at minimum most info seems to be coming from UT sources.

i agree it would be tough to get them back.. but i do think to a degree nebby doesnt want to be involved with the big 10.

there is also more money in the big 10 so leaving for less wouldnt make sense. BUT the big 12 would have to figure something out like that to stay together, i think.

you can't go get houston, byu, and Cincinnati and think every thing is sunshine and rainbows

my only thing about this...

matchups.

winning the big 12 over the likes of baylor, tcu, ttech, maybe az and az st doesnt necessarily tickle my fancy.

part of winning the big 12 is going through texas and/or oklahoma.

winning the big 12 year in and year out against those types of teams doesnt really have the juice it would if we were winning it year in and year out with texas/ou in the conf.
I get it but these super conferences are so big now teams like Iowa can easily win the B10 west without having to play the bluebloods from the East. Its still a championship even if it's not as glamorous.
