I just think you guys are overreacting. If programs like Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt have a place there will be a spot at the table for Iowa State football. The implications of not being in a power conference I think are bigger you’re making it seem. That’s not a for sure outcome at this point. But it’s a very plausible one. And it’s really scary. To think otherwise is burying your head in the sand.
Yeah, even if OU and Texas were to stay, it would behoove the other teams in the conference to try to find a way out, if it’s there. We can’t keep dealing with a destabilized conference every other year because their panties are in a bunch about something.Really don't think this is dead in the water now. TX and OU have opened a door and destabilized everything. ISU needs to think about ISU at this point and I hope this serves as a call to action.
Yep. Find an escape and tell them to go screw. Easier said than done, but they will never change.Yeah, even if OU and Texas were to stay, it would behoove the other teams in the conference to try to find a way out, if it’s there. You still need to include the payout for including Iowa State in the Big Ten part of the equation! The minute Iowa State joins...will they increase revenues for the Big Ten more than what a school gets paid for being a member now? If not...it lessens the payouts to the rest of the schools so why would they want that?

Texas is more inline with the Mississippi St, Texas A&M tier than they are with that second tier of teams like Florida and Georgia. Why would OU and Texas move and hurt themselves then? They aren’t getting past Alabama, and the second tier of that conference (Georgia, Florida, etc) are just as good as OU and Texas are. All this does is hurt their chances to make the playoff. But I guess the money outweighs that
i agree it would be tough to get them back.. but i do think to a degree nebby doesnt want to be involved with the big 10.
there is also more money in the big 10 so leaving for less wouldnt make sense. BUT the big 12 would have to figure something out like that to stay together, i think.
you can't go get houston, byu, and Cincinnati and think every thing is sunshine and rainbows
They have been grandfathered into a spot. If they had to find another spot, it would be a challenge, but they're not in that scenario.I just think you guys are overreacting. I guarantee we will have better numbers than half of the ACC, at least half of the PAC 12. We are in the middle of the pack for streaming potential, which is great. I would rather us be valued for that than the size of our cable tv market.People have said that we are in a good position because we have a lot of fans and eyeballs willing to stream games, but do we know this is true? We have a passionate fan base yes, and I think people are assuming passion is equivalent to large numbers for subscriptions, but have we actually compared our numbers to other schools? Does this data even exist in a form that is meaningful to the future of the delivery model? I'm not sure we have as big of an advantage here as we think.

Tom Osborne doesn't have time to be on here. He's too busy laughing. And what I said doesn't conflict with that, Tom Osborne.
What about unicorns and rainbows?
Why does all the G5 schools like Houston, the Florida schools, Cincinnati and others want to get into a P5 conference. They are winning and having success currently, why leave? Because its all about the money, without OU and UT the dollars the networks will pay go from 35 million a year per school to 10 million a year. Without that money its hard to keep coaches salaries going up, expanding and updating facilities and the rest of it.Here's a hypothetical for everyone on nuclear meltdown mode. This is strictly in regards to Oklahoma because Texas is insignificant and have always been massive underachievers.
Let's say Cambpbell has 10 years left, the first 5 we continue like we have with Oklahoma and Texas, 8-10 win seasons, keep making good bowl games, but he just can't get over the Oklahoma hump. He either loses to them in the championship game again, or slips up against some other team which prevents us from even getting there. No Big 12 championships or playoffs.
The last 5 Oklahoma is gone, the Big 12 stays together with the remaining 8 and adds 2 other teams. Iowa St becomes the premier team in the conference under Campbell, wins at least a couple Big 12 titles and gets invited to the 12 team playoff at least once, multiple NFL picks, sold out games every Saturday.
What the hell is the difference??? Because now we cant play Oklahoma once or twice anymore? We weren't even competitive with them for like 30 years until Kyle Kempt and Matt Cambpell came along. Is it really all about the TV revenue driving all this? Who's to say Campbell won't stay or they find some other way to pony up his salary.
Another thing with recruiting, it's all relative, you guys act like our recruiting would take a hit, but so would every other team in the conference. There's still the same amount of players out there, we have added 2 new expansion teams to college football. Yeah, the overall talent of the conference will go down but it's relative. What's the worst case if that happens? We can beat Big 12 teams but can't compete with ghr Alabama and Clemsons? How is that any different than right now.
Apparently Vandy voted against A&M and Mizzou coming the last time, so the feeling is that they would be a logical 3rd.
I just don’t see any other moves anyone can make besides adding more teams to keep up with the SEC at this point.
