Honestly if the Big 12 and SEC pull this off this fall and the Big Ten misses out they'll fall to Pac 12 level status in the big picture of things nationally

I think that presidents have an inflated view of the role of academics on most institutions. I think that there seems to be this idea that academia will not see drastic effects from not having sports. I think there are significantly more people that allow sports to influence their college choice than people like to admit. I would likely have gone to a private school that everyone else in my family had gone to. Iowa and Iowa State get a lot of people who just use it as fallback to make a choice. They are in our face so it’s kind of just a given that we would go there. If football is so important to universities and the communities, they would have found a way to make it work. Plans like keeping players in a bubble, remote learning for student athletes, minimize roster size, adhering to social distancing guidelines, day to day testing with expeditious results, mandatory masks, RAs hired by athletic departments to enforce the bubble environment, suspend players who violate, games played in empty stadiums, etc. All this is doable during a pandemic for one season in a multibillion dollar industry.
NCAA and/or all the conferences had many months to come up with a game plan and completely left it up to individual schools. The supposed leaders have completely shat the bed.

I don't see this happening. The cash will be flowing again in 2021, and the Big 10 still has major brand names in Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, etc.
They're missing an entire season of football. Do you realize how big of a deal that is? Financially, recruiting, fans, etc
It will hurt a few of the teams in the conference, but the fans aren't going anywhere. I think it's overstated how much it will affect recruiting. Once we get to 2021, it will be back to business as usual in the Big 10.
The tide has slowly been changing for the young fans and high school students in favor of Iowa State since the late 2000s. If ISU and the Big 12 complete the season, it will only speed it up faster. The baby boomer hawk trolls on here and post on Hawkeye Report are too ignorant (or just deny it happening) to even realize that their precious Hawks are becoming second fiddle.I'm not a huge Murph and Andy guy but they said it best about casual fans and the younger fans might switch to cheering for Iowa State instead of Iowa after watching us have a full successful season while the Big Ten teams are too scared to play

I think people don't realize how much losing an entire football season will cripple a conferenceNo they won’t. But the PAC 12 will be losing some schools this next waive of realignment.

So what’s going to happen? Teams are going to leave the B1G to make less a year because they didn’t get paid one year?
They'll turn into what the Pac 12 is currently pretty much
