ISU @ Colorado Postgame

I'm not worried about next season, because we are not that far from being a bowl team. The games against UNLV, KU, and CU, could have gone our way. That would make 5 wins, with a winnable game against K-State ahead. .

This is where I am at as well. ISU lost 3 games last fall that it should not have. Same thing this season. If we are still seeing that 2-3 years from now, then I will be very concerned.

In what way are we not far from being a bowl team? 4 more wins to even be eligible, not to mention we play in one of the best conferences.

It's simple math.

We have 2 wins this year.

Next year is Chiz's 3rd season.

2x3=6.

6 wins equals bowl eligibility.

chizzlestick better start winning a couple of games or he will be out in the soup line with prince from kansas state.

I disagree that this wasn't a game we should have lost. Our defense clearly showed that we were supposed to lose this, and a 3 and out from our offense late in the game didn't really show me that we were in it to win it.

Ok... for all you fans in this boat.....

Don't renew your tickets... I need better seats..

I'm sick of all these threats... Either do it... or shut up. Same thing every year. Back it up...

I don't care if you are a fan of 1 year or 50 years. If you are on the fence this much, get off of it. What were you saying in 2003?? Didn't we go 2-10?? Why didn't you jump off then?? Nope... Lets cry now..

I think if someone simply asked you for the time of day, you'd find a way to dump on Mac as a way of defending Chizik.
Spare us the "lectures" about what a real fan is...

Those killed us and the middle blitzes killed us letting them throw it short middle...

I still don't mind the option call, thing that sucked there is there wasn't time to call out of it when we saw the CU alignment... I think if the receiver and TE make their blocks it might have been a different outcome...

I think having young TE's and wide outs trying to seal off the edge is why the play call wasn't a good call. You're asking an awful lot of them. Rather I would have liked to see a QB sneak where we tried to power it in. Actually, if we would have had the time, I would have liked to see Scales in there with a blast call up the middle.

JP would have to be an idiot if he fired Chizik after less than 4 years.

JP will NOT fire Chizik anytime soon, for the simple fact that he'd be following Gene out the door at the same time.

(that, and it's pointless to fire a coach inside of 4 years).

With seriously mortgaging ISU's athletic future - JP desperately needs Chizik to work out. We can't afford for him to fail, much less fail with a buyout.

No smack here, but I am curious what you think the impact on KSU will be in firing Prince? I think a FB coach should get 4-5 years. If there is no progress in 2-3 seasons, I'll join your view.

Wow... I haven't even mentioned McCarney's name until now today...

What posts have you been reading...

Trust me... I loved Mac, but he is GONE.. Not coming back anytime soon.

The last time I mentioned Mac's name was the post about him going to KSU where you said something so mind boggling stupid I had to reply...

Nice try... but like everything in life you do...

Fail.....

First of all, as you can see, I don't generally post. However, I have never been so disappointed in the product on the field and the coaching on the sidelines as I have been this year.

I was coming to games in the 70's, graduated ISU in the 80's, survived the 90's, bought a tailgating bus in the 2000's, and have supported both the administration and coaching throughout. Obviously, being a cyclone fan is a noble vocation, and some of the dark years in our football history were very hard to live through...but, like so many others I continued to give money, buy tickets and kept showing up (25 years of season tickets)!

But right now, I am more tempted to sell the bus, stop my Cyclone Club donations (captains level), non renew the season tickets, and spend my Saturdays doing something that will bring me joy. I am pissed!

Although I could bring up alot of positives in todays game, the second half defensive scheme and final play call have me at a complete loss. Being a former athlete, I can only shake my head. Why do all coordinators, except our own, look like brainiacs in the second half when playing us? Again, I am pissed!

Like our economy, I'm sure things will get better sooner than later... because I can't fathom either one getting any worse!

I don't even want to hear anything from our coaches right now. Nothing! No press conferences, no soundbites, no analogies, no excuses...Nothing!

Whew. Sorry about the rant. See you all next Saturday. Should be a great day for tailgating. God Bless the Cyclones!

Everyone has short memories after a loss. Remember 1994 when in Waldens 6 or 7th year we didn't win a game? That is a low point. Granted we are close now but in year 2 of rebuilding. If the team is like this in year 5, that will be the new low because seriously what do we do then? Rebuild on rebuilding? As hard as it is right now, we have to dig deep and support the team through this rebuild and give them at least another year or two before we start saying this is the worst team and lowest point in Cyclone football history.

IMO, here were the 3 biggest turning points of the game:

- ISU up 10-0 and Colorado had the ball in the middle of the field with a 4th and goal at ISU's five. They forego the FG attempt and Hawkins finds a guy wide open in the endzone for a TD.

- ISU up 24-21 with a 4th and 2 at their own 48 yard line with about 6 minutes left. ISU's decides to punt the ball and CU scores the go ahead touchdown.

- ISU down 24-28 with a 3rd and inches at the 5 yard line and about 17 seconds left. Arnaud throws a fade pass to nobody in particular.

All of the above decisions came back to haunt us. The fade pass really bugged me. I would have liked to see us pick up the first down and spike the ball. That would have given us time to get off 3 more plays. It seems like the fade pass has failed ISU in just about every tough loss over the last 5 years. The successful teams in the Big 12 don't throw the fade pass. They let their mobile QB buy time with his feet and hit someone in the middle of the endzone.

Finally, AA and/or the coaches need to do a better job of using their timeouts. After A-Rob's long run set us up with a 1st and 10 at the 15 yard line, we didn't need to take a timeout there. The clock was already stopped and ISU had the momentum anyway. We really could have used that timeout at the end of the game.

All in all I was not as disappointed as I thought I would be because ISU gave a great effort in a game that really meant nothing to them compared to what Colorado has on the line. I still think Chizik and Company can get things done if they sign another solid recruiting class. They really need to fill some holes on defense or things are going to get worse before they get better.

prince is gone at the end of the year at KSU. they willl either get bill snyder back as head coach or spend the bucks to get a decent coach. the wildcats were used to good football under snyder.their alumni have not forgot when they were winning.because prince was not winning the alumni got all over their athletic director and they got prince fired.

Ok... Sooo what is the comparison???

KSU had alot of winning seasons under Snyder... And we have had 4 winning season in the last 20 years.....

So we should get Chizik fired???

Cause there are so many others knocking on the door wanting this job?? I really hope Stoops gets fired this year....

I've been a Cyclone fan since the the Johnny Majors era and I've seen my share of good and bad Cyclone teams.I hate too say it but mainly bad teams but I still will cheer for the Cyclones through good and bad and always will.but there is no way we should have been in that postion in the first place.I know we are a very young team and they are still learning but come on up 24-13 with little over 9 minutes to go in the game and the defense lets them move the ball down the field at will not once but twice and score a easy 2 point conversion.Does'nt fair well in my book. They do this game in and game out everytime. Then to put more salt on the wound they call an option play 6 inches from the goal line.....UNREAL....They were calling that play alot during the game and they snuffed it out but did MacFarland really think that he was going to fool them with that call...I don't blame coach Chizik at all but I do think Wayne Bolt has to go and bring in a D cordinator that knows how to coach a defense and hang on to a lead.We have seen this to many times in 2 years from the defense

I don't necessarily disagree except on one point. Snyder's last couple of teams were horrible. Not sure at his age that he will be able to quickly rebuild.
