ISU @ Colorado Postgame

Props to AA for being tough and staying in the game. After we didn't get the ball snaped and got the flag, AA goes and runs through the hole and get a helmet righ on his right arm and ribs. I thought he was coming out but he really sucked it up and stayed in. Tough kid.

He's tough but I question his awareness and decision-making. How many times does AA throw the ball short of the first down? Why does he hardly ever throw the ball to the middle of the field? Why are we not able to get the snap off in key situations?

I think stares down the primary receiver so everyone knows where he's going with the ball - as well - it does seem like when time is running down, he is using a long count... there surely is a quick snap "emergency" snap call...

Absolutely. The decision not to pressure Hawkins on 2 consecutives drives was terrible. I thought the team played as well as it could given the experience and talent we have have. The coaches let them down. Today our kids deserved a better coaching effort than what they got. Terrible, just terrible.

Did you watch the game? Or just joining the cool crowd to complain.

Our players aren't good enough to get pressure, even while blitzing (and it showed). We had no pressure the entire day, and they tore us apart for it once they got a QB in that could complete passes.

Someone else said that this was something like the worst product they have ever seen on the field. Really???? Losing by 4 on the road to Colorado is the worst product you've seen? Did you black out for the latter Walden/early and latter McCarney years?

First of all, as you can see, I don't generally post. However, I have never been so disappointed in the product on the field and the coaching on the sidelines as I have been this year.

I was coming to games in the 70's, graduated ISU in the 80's, survived the 90's, bought a tailgating bus in the 2000's, and have supported both the administration and coaching throughout. Obviously, being a cyclone fan is a noble vocation, and some of the dark years in our football history were very hard to live through...but, like so many others I continued to give money, buy tickets and kept showing up (25 years of season tickets)!

But right now, I am more tempted to sell the bus, stop my Cyclone Club donations (captains level), non renew the season tickets, and spend my Saturdays doing something that will bring me joy. I am pissed!

Although I could bring up alot of positives in todays game, the second half defensive scheme and final play call have me at a complete loss. Being a former athlete, I can only shake my head. Why do all coordinators, except our own, look like brainiacs in the second half when playing us? Again, I am pissed!

Like our economy, I'm sure things will get better sooner than later... because I can't fathom either one getting any worse!

I don't even want to hear anything from our coaches right now. Nothing! No press conferences, no soundbites, no analogies, no excuses...Nothing!

Whew. Sorry about the rant. See you all next Saturday. Should be a great day for tailgating. God Bless the Cyclones!

Again, another reason I'm worried about '09.

I can hang tough for another couple of years. The shame of all of this is that ISU was good enough to have won 3 more last season and 3 more this year. Honestly, it isn't the games against the UTs and OUs that could be the difference makers in our program over the years it is more like the games against Toledo, UNLV, KU, and CU. I'll be there next week and will be back for more next season. My college days are over, it is too late to climb onto another team's bandwagon.

We rarely put our TE in passing routes and not that many crossing routes. We seem to really like the out routes. And not even button hooks, curls. But always the longest, toughest, and most dangerous routes on the field.

As for throwing short, I think that's more on the reciever. He has to throw where the receiver is. And we DO seem to end up 2 yards short of the 1st down marker - ALOT.

Ok... for all you fans in this boat.....

Don't renew your tickets... I need better seats..

I'm sick of all these threats... Either do it... or shut up. Same thing every year. Back it up...

I don't care if you are a fan of 1 year or 50 years. If you are on the fence this much, get off of it. What were you saying in 2003?? Didn't we go 2-10?? Why didn't you jump off then?? Nope... Lets cry now..

I hope we get more than 30,000 next week. The team gave a great effort today. They just don't know how to finish games. Seems like our wide receivers are killing us with dropped passes or always coming up a yard short when they do catch it. Still I love their effort.

I'm not worried about next season, because we are not that far from being a bowl team. The games against UNLV, KU, and CU, could have gone our way. That would make 5 wins, with a winnable game against K-State ahead. The thing that has to change is the pass coverage, and that will improve with experience. If we can hold teams under 200 yards passing, we will have a great chance to win, it's that simple. If I see the same mistakes as this year, next year, then I'll be worried. A-Rob is a beast.

I'm trying to put a positive spin on that. I am 'hoping' that this is a mark of a young team and that they will learn to finish by the time '09 rolls around. Perhaps that is just wishful thinking.
