Define "a lot". Iowa is 8-3 since this thread was started, so I guess that is considered a lot. In the same time, ISU is 7-4 so I guess we have won a lot too. Is anything over .500 "a lot?

About to be 4-17 in their last 21 conference games.

I take nothing from that game in December. It’s 2012 and 2016 all over again. Iowa blows their wad against us on their home floor, then Iowa State goes on to have a much better season.

Its hard to tell because they play at Iowa, but not sure Weiskamp or any Iowa player would see the floor if they played for ISU.

Iowa is the exact same team they've been the last 3-4 years. A couple nice pieces and a bunch of role players that are limited. This year they don't have the horrendous Big 10 to rely on. It's actually pretty good and pretty deep.

Iowa has 14 more games against the top 51 teams in Kenpom (Northwestern is 51st). That is a really, really hard road to a bid for a team with no home court advantage.

To get to 8-12 that means about .500 ball the rest of the way. I'm not seeing it yet.

If Iowa can make an NIT final four again, I think he gets resigned to another big contract. This year probably won’t happen, but next year I could see Iowa in a position to make that run.

Looked at their schedule, and I think Iowa goes 7-9 rest of the way and ends up 8-12 in conference. NIT bound again.

Now, it could be worse - they could lose at Rutgers e.g., or just totally collapse like they did a few years ago. But I think they will stumble along, zombie-like, as usual. Lose some games by 20 and look utterly hopeless and helpless, and then come back and beat a half-decent team like Maryland or IU at home. That seems to be their thing under Fran. Just enough oxygen to keep them alive, but never really thrive.

I'd bet anything Iowa doesn't go better than 2-2 in the next 4

Wade Lookingbill is on crack. The best I could see them going during this stretch is 2-2, there is no way they are winning both of those road games. They got embarrassed in both of those contests last year.

I think theyll steal one of the road games and beat Illinois. Thats not going to be good enough though, 4-1 in this stretch or they are screwed.

Unfortunately you might be on to something here... Iowa might be very dependent on getting the right match-ups to make a tourney run. Offensively they're really just missing a PG that can consistently break down the defense. Moss, Wieskamp, and J-Bo can score.. But defensively. WOOF.
