Clone-o... I like it. I guess it was about as relevant to this discussion as your complaint about his signature...
I'm not saying that my complaint was relevant. I didn't feel like giving him negative rep for it, and figured since this topic was way off track anyways, might as well through it out there.
meh, fair enough. I will give you that I don't really like the sig either, and our little exchange has probably derailed this thread as much as anything, still, I almost feel obligated to bust your balls once a week or so, being as you ARE the resident Hawk :wink:
By people do you mean one internet poster? Who happens to be an ISU fan and who happened to announce that Barrent was weak after he verballed to another program?
I will trust the combined opinions of guys named Ferentz, Zook, Chizik, Dantonio, Brewster, Pelini, and Fitzgerald over the opinion of an internet poster every day (twice on Sunday).

Yes Monty that is exactly what I meant. I usually am one to jump all over a posters opinion.
Nope. I actually have talked to high school coaches and a couple players who have played WITH Barrent. I said before he committed to Iowa that I would rather have his teammate Bofelli and I stand by that. You can be quick to jump on me if you want Monty but I am fair to both ISU and Iowa

Actually it wasn't b/c he was far off on why I said what I said. Like I said in that post the guy could turn out to be an All American. He has the size to develop into a very good player. But based on his past performances he looks like an overrated 4 star player at this time. I don't care if he commits to ISU, Iowa, or Texas.

I've been working on being civil with Hawk fans. The fact that your posts are mostly non-flamable makes you harder to hate, even though you have violated the most holiest of protocols, lol...
Why don't you call up Chizik and all those other coaches who have offered Barrent -- as a HS junior -- and tell them they're wrong? I'm sure any or all of them would advise you to quit wasting your skills online and would offer you a highly paid position on their staff, since you know so much more than they do.

My God people, why are you trying to make a villain out of a high school guy who decided to give his first hand opinion on something. Players have their ups and downs and Barrent probably had a bad camp and he was just reporting it. Barrent probably cracked under the pressure of being an Iowa commit practicing at an ISU camp under the steely gaze of the Chiz
A lot of players are recruited on potential, and while I'm sure Barrent is plenty good now, he also has room to grow. With all this said, he may flop and just completely suck. A couple pre-reqs for an OL to be good are to be big and bad, just not big. Just look at guys like the Fishers, etc.

all i know is that barrent is rediculously strong. he came up high with pretty sorry form against everybody especially ben cotton and absouloutly made them his whipping boy if he even develops above average technique he will be a stud at the collage level at least.

at this point i am glad we don't have barrent as he seems to have bad form and be pretty weak for such a big guy.
opinion #1 was just from seeing tape and if you noticed i said in both that he had bad form and he was straight ahed blocking didn't have to reach at all so it boils down to strength he is strong for a high school lineman not for a college 4* though
opinion#2 after seing him in person and playing against valley i'd trust this opinion more i don't care if he was comited to state i'd still air my opions and concerns. oh and has been stated before everyone looks like an olympian in their highlight video

i saw david barrent at a bowling lane last night with some friends, and i dont know what your talking about hes a pretty big boy...he doesnt look to be really athletic thou, kinda clumsy...i play at dowling and valley is our biggest rival and he dominated quite a few of us
