So I just got back from ISU team camp and wow david barrent is a) a really skinny thin guy (narrow and thin)and b) compleatly overated got blown up in one on one drills vs. roosevelts 6'3" 315 jr defensive tackle /offensive guard and couldnt block a 205 lb roosevelt de in a scrimmage. in fact valley as a whole was underwhelming and we (roosevelt) tied them 7-7 in a scrimmage both scores commong on long runs, for valley by cutcomp over the right side and by roosevelts QB on a t-read play over left (backside tackle pulls and leads play up field) any way at this point i am glad we don't have barrent as he seems to have bad form and be pretty weak for such a big guy in board drill (read run block) he just got ran over by our guy, and in one on one pass pro he got ran over when he was blocking and was pancaked in about 1.5 seconds when he was rushing. 'neyways just my $.02 worth.

i'm just reporting what i saw and it should be 2 or three of his stars that's how bad he looked

A litlle Roosevelt bias, but ill take your word for it. I was reading on a Hawk website where his coach did learn to use his leverage til last year was pretty much over. He must not have worked on it very much since.

Barrent is 6'7", 290. He could probably put on another 30 lbs and still look small compared to shorter OT's since hes so tall, but i wouldnt call him thin or skinny.

no i mean he looked bret culbertson skinny and his shoulders are extremely narrow for a guy that tall

bofoelli was there but wasn't in pads don't know why, and i reported what i saw no bias at all valleys best lineman was their right guard #78 he is a strong muther i know that from personal experiance

but bofoelli is at least 6'6" and he is freaking huge i mean absolutly built probably stronger than barrent, and he's the one guy on valley who actually looks younger than 25

Bofelli looks really good in his Rivals video. I'd be happy if we can land him. Hopefully the coaches dont want to turn him into an OL and scare him away to a school that wants him to play TE.

Gimme a break. The kid is good, very good. Take a look at his film on rivals and scout if you dont think so. He was just named the MVP of the Football University Camp in Chicago, which hosted some of the top prospects in the midwest and the country. Dont bash a kid after a frickin team camp in June.

Wow ozzie, calm down! This kid got an up close look at him and came away unimpressed.

I have been told the same thing for the past 6 months. I talked to Jake Mcdonough about Barrent and he said that he is weak. He has the size to be a big time player later on down the road but as of right now he has John Tjaden from Mason City written all over him. All size. That is just my opinion though

this was full pads live action and he abolutely sucked thats what i saw i cant say what he looked like in chicago i can say what he looked like in ames and he didn't look very good and if you'll notice in his videos he stands straight up when he blocks not alowing for good leverage he may have potential through the roof but right now it looks like he is being graded on potential not actual display on the field

He may not be ready to dominate at the Div I college level right away, but very few freshmen are. He's still a good prospect and highly likely to be a very good college offensive lineman down the road.

Sour grapes just make you look sad. And there's no reason for it -- who knows where he will end up. He made a verbal (meaningless) committment to a program that is in complete disarray and is facing several months of turmoil both on the field and in the legal system. Signing day is still eight months away. My guess is he will change his mind between now and then (unfortunately I expect he'll end up at Illinois, not ISU).

i dont care that he's commited to iowa he just didn't look that good for a highschool tackle ya he is strong for high school but that will only get you so far. example my o-line coach 2-time world powerlifting champion played in high school with dan reming ton ya my guy is strong but i'm guessing reming ton had better technique thus he's got a trophy named after him while my coach played at drake

This is a funny thread. David was just named MVP of the Football University camp in Chicago and bumped up to #7 OL/#2 pass blocker in the nation by rivals. Yet he got totally dominated at ISU's team camp...I'm sure. I've got 4 words for this thread... sour grapes & Roosevelt bias.

Technically, if you speak that last line out, it's 5 words.
