SOURCE: Jameel McKay's knee is structurally sound

Probably a case of gout he contracted from old geezer Perry Ellis Monday night.

I'll get blasted for this, but I think we should sit most of the team for A&M. Can't risk injury in a game that doesn't hurt to lose and doesn't gain much to win.

I heard rumor of this post. You should get blasted and I'm at least encouraged that you expected to be.

Are people really advocating for this? I see talk about resting an injured player. Beyond that would, indeed, be crazy talk.

Haha, yeah, someone mentioned it in a previous post. Some of the comments I read on here sometimes are just bizarre.

This isnt week 17 in the NFL. For some reason people think we are completely gassed right now or something and the trip to Texas A&M will completely exhaust the entire team and we wont win another game due to extreme fatigue.

These are the best conditioned athletes in the country who are playing on a whole 4 days rest followed by 2 days rest for West Virginia. I think they will be fine.

+1

How often do you see college teams rest their starters during the season, never. Resting to prevent further injury is another matter though. I'm in the camp that TAM is not all that important to achieving this team's long terms goals.

Rest him. You can't risk long term for one game. That's just stupid. Losing the game isn't going to hurt ISU if they can continue to play well in the Big 12.RPI will be fine so don't know why people are worried about that. I would like to know exactly what is wrong with his knee.
Maybe two more days of rest will be worthless for his knee problem which may last through the season...cortisone may be the way to go if inflamation. Aleve also helps.

I haven't read all the posts but I've seen enough of Jameel the last year and a half to know the guy is a warrior, and nobody brings more energy and enthusiasm to the floor than he does. "Structurally sound" is good news and should be a lift for Jameel, but that doesn't mean there still isn't pain and he will still have to be a warrior to play thru it.

Who we play Saturday is irrelevant. You rest McKay if it would help heal an injury for the betterment of the season no matter who we play. If not, he plays.

I think playing a non-conference game makes the decision easier. Rest him without question. The fans want to see the Carter anyways, but him in for 20-25 minutes and see what the kid has.

Its not irrelevant at all. The fact we are playing a non-con road game against a top 5 team makes it easier than if we were playing KU or OU at home.

Fans that want to see him don't want to win Saturday. There is a reason he isn't playing. If McKay doesn't play we can go 7 deep, we'll just have to be smart about subbing the bigs

They would also NEVER say anything about it to CW or anyone not intimately involved with the team.

Agreed they have confidentiality responsibilities but I'm guessing someone close to the program who is in a position to know leaked to to Chris.

My gawd I hope for the sake of Carter's ISU career that doesn't happen. If he plays those minutes and we get blown out it will be MT+Nader+Jameel hate combined.

One person is insane. Ignore it.

After reading posts and twitter, I would like to eat some crow. I do think we should play to win the game, and that means playing your guys that are available. Winning against a top 5 team on the road would be easily our best win. I guess I had a mindset of wanting to be Big XII champs and we hear so often that we are not deep, so thought we should rest to be fresh and prepared for the Big XII race.

Best post I've seen is - the selection committee does not care about conference vs. non-conference wins. They just care about who you beat. That is the case here, and that's all I need to know.

I'm now with the rest of you. Rest McKay if he's not 100%, play the guys your have to win the game and hope nobody gets hurt.

The end.
