If beating #1 and #4 in a week don't do something for all of those things, not to mention WV next Tuesday, then ATM won't either. I'd like to see ISU win or at least be close late, but a mid-conference season, non-conference game, should almost be ignored by the NCAA tourney committee since no one else is doing it.

A&M would be a road win against a Top team. Much more impact than beating KU, Oklahoma or West Virginia.

And play who? We dress 9-10 players.

I'm not sure if the poster meant actually sit guys entirely or just play fewer minutes. It would be awesome if Morris could play 32 minutes and still pull out the win.

It wont fail at all. It sucks to have to go on the road, but as long as the home and road flips every year, it wont be bad. The only thing that sucks is that everyone loses their bye-game with this being worked in. You could start conference season a tad sooner to make up for it, but then you run the risk of having up to 3 conference games with no students. It would be nice to have the NCAA move the final four back two weeks, and allow conference season to start the week students are back and go for 10 weeks. Have the championship game in late April, and then have opening day in baseball the following Monday.
I don't know how much of this is on purpose but the first weekend of the tournament is always during Spring break. that could be a factor.

a lot of people acting like if McKay doesn't play we lose automatically.
I can't speak for the others, but I think if taking a day or two off would help anyone on this team, now would be the time to do it.

Losing to a #5 team wont hurt ISU. But losing, or worsening a player's injury, would hurt the team.

I would also add that we should utilize this game to get guys like Burton, Cooke and Ashton so valuable PT against solid competition.

It would be stupid to purposely lose this game. It's not like that would guarantee a big 12 title or even an ncaa berth. Win every game you can and hope for the best at the end of the year.

Not playing McKay <> Losing on purpose

I can't understand the people saying we should rest our starters for Texas A&M, the No. 5 team in the country. Getting a chance to prove yourself against the best teams in the country is what basketball is all about!

Are people really advocating for this? I see talk about resting an injured player. Beyond that would, indeed, be crazy talk.

read the thread. At least one person though so.

A player determined to be day by day is "structurally sound"????? Hmmm........that's what they said about Naz.

College kids happen to get tired too. And sometimes rest can be good for them too. I can understand other arguments in favor of doing everything we can to win this game, but to suggest that college kids can't benefit from rest?

We do all relize that we only dress 10 guys right? Do you want to play carter, burton, ashton, students and Cooke with no bench? Think about what you say, even if we wanted to rest the starters there is no way we can. Also please put me squarely in the camp that this is a great challenge and in college you never just rest kids. Go get the win.

The "Source" says Jameel is sound. Wall let's hope so however I've learned long ago no such thing a "valid" source. Basketball teams are notorious for hiding players injuries..........some for good reasons.........and most for not good reasons.

Totally agree. We've looked so much better without him on the court the last few weeks.

This is false, he was a warrior against KU but if all you care about is offense, then maybe you're right. It got ignored but he battled on the boards against KU. He especially played great in the first half, when no one else was.

I know ISU's orthopedic surgeons personally and these guys would NEVER "hide injuries".
