It's gonna be a long year

I'm pretty sure Fred and this team lost to Baylor at home last year too. While Prohm hasn't improved the situation it doesn't make a lot of sense to say he has turned this team into a shadow of last year's team.

I agree re a Long Year............I knew when Fred left we might struggle, but this team absolutely has lost its confidence and MOJO.........................

I don't know what Prohm has done to this team but its just a Shadow of Last Years Team

Absolutely. I don't get all the remaining Hoiberg love on this board. He absolutely ****ed ISU in the ***. I don't care what he says, he used his alma mater as a stepping stone and couldn't leave fast enough. When he knew he was setup for an NBA job, he stopped working. He dropped ISU like a bloody tampon on the sidewalk.

Fred was the best thing to happen to ISU basketball. He built Hilton Magic to new highs. And, yeah, it hurts that he dropped us like a... well what you said.

Yeah, Burton couldnt even give 1 minute of solid production and defense before Niang had to come back in. We have no bench at all. Cooke is completely outmatched out there and Burton looks disinterested the last couple games.

Think Long going down had any impact?

Bolded part is true, but this certainly is not the same Baylor team we lost to last year. Lot of work to do if we want to make a run in the NCAA. IMO, just like last year, we could lose to anyone at anytime, so be prepared for that.

Run In the NCAA.............HellsBells we have to get their first...............Prohm and this team have both LOST Their MOJO.............

Calling guys soft is rather funny too. Esp when same trolls talk about the team toughness, grit, etc after a big win.

Fans WAY softer than anyone on this team. Anyone.

The irrational bunch has control of the boards, your comments will fall on deaf ears.

I think we are an 11-7 conference team. About what we should have expected when Naz went down and what we started the year with. Will lose to KU at home and 5 road games.

This may be true but the defense really hast to improve, or it's more like 10-8/9-9 realistically.

Still probably a tourney team so that's cool.

Losing Naz was a dagger. We are the best starting 5 in the nation probably but we got zero bench points in the second half and gave up something like 50 points in 10 minutes... That will be the story all season long unless our bench wakes up.

This thread will be gold at the end of the season.

Because it might be foreshadowing what's to come for the rest of the year?

Still a lot of basketball to be played, but ISU doing things like laying back and letting Baylor have a 3 point contest last year late in the game was the type of things that didn't go away, and showed up in the final game of the year.

I would suggest watching teams that aren't ISU for a more accurate description.

Any team with 3 consistent shooters in their starting 5 are already better than this one. ISU has 2.

With the lack of depth at the beginning of the year and then the loss of naz the conference title was not happening anyway. I experienced 2 conference titles. To me it doesn't compare to a good tourney run. People on here act like they have never watched basketball. Every single game is different. Anyone can beat anyone. Just because Kansas blew out Baylor doesn't mean they will blow out ISU. If someone wants to bet and give me 35 points I will bet my house. Stop dogging th players and coach. This means more to them than it does to anyone posting on any board. Students have been missed in the crowd. The crowd did not help the team at all today. I fear that people on this board are taking things way too seriously. We are Iowa State an amazing university with a very good basketball team. Enjoy the great things that are happening. It will all be OK.

Prohm is terrible. All this talk of how he inherited a final four team and we cant even beat UNI or Baylor at home after Kansas beat them by 35. Horrible, horrible coaching. How bad will we suck next year after we lose 5 starters?

Also, we really only play 5 guys, Burton and Cooke cant even give 2 minutes of production in Big 12 games.

Agreed! Prohm game plan and rotations are very very poor. Didn't do a very good job of getting Burton or Cooke involved. If he doesn't get a better rotation that gets Burton and Cooke involved we're going to have a long season! Our starting five has two very streaky players, so we're going to need Burton or Cooke. I'm really starting to think Otz would of been a better hire than Phrom.

Well that sounds confident...

First post. Flush this troll.

This is rich. ISU doesn't take the ball to the lane on O, doesn't take charges or stick to their man on D, give up 60 in the second half, and you're calling out fans who call them "soft." Wow.

Pathetic ******* effort by a bunch of prima donnas who don't give a ****. This is not Prohm's fault. These guys think they're too good to be coached.

This team does not deserve to be ranked. I fully expect this season to get ****** down our legs now and become a full-on dumpster fire. Unranked and on the bubble by March. Mark it down.

As of right now, I agree with this.

I have never seen such a mentally soft team in my life. They all think they are God's gift to college basketball and just have to show up to win. When they get up by 10 or more, you can almost ALWAYS count on the other team coming back because we don't know how to put anyone away.

When we get up by 10, the goal should be to get up by 15 by the next TV timeout. Then it should be to get up by 20 by the next TV timeout, etc. B

Baylor is not that good... and as it turns out, neither are we. Depth WAS an issue coming into the season, and that sure hasn't changed, especially since Naz went out.

The Big 12 title really wasn't realistic IMO, but now it's lost for sure with a loss at home to a team that isn't even ranked. I see us finishing 4th at best myself with what I've seen from this team. It will go... KU, OU, Baylor, then ISU at best IMO.

Otz a better hire than Phrom...I wouldn't go that far but I would say that Prohm is not Fred Hoiberg or even Scott Drew...I noticed that Drew was outta time outs fairly early in the 2nd half, Prohm lets the other Teams go on a run for way too long before calling a timeout......
