ill pass on him

I'm kind of over the word "rosterbation" even though I very much enjoy taking part in the act itself.

Diallo is higher rated than Vaughn by some... I don't know why you'd even say that, other than maybe the early NBA thing?

I think it's a lot like the Georges vs. Noel situation. No one here would take Noel over Georges. Ellenson and Ahmad are most likely 3-4 year players. Diallo is a one and done. Of course I would take Diallo, but from a program standpoint I would take a very solid Ellenson or Ahmad for 3-4 seasons.

Give me Diallo, and then an Ellenson player for the next class. Why the hell do people compare four years of one guy to another's freshman year? You still get to use that scholarship.

Getting on the board with a 1 & Done, lottery pick certainly would have a positive impact on future recruiting so even though Diallo's production probably would be far less than Ellenson's in that situation, doesn't mean there wouldn't be some "good will" type benefit for future recruiting of high level players.

It isn't a guarantee there is a player like Ellenson in the next class. He's pretty unique. That being said I'm not an idiot and understand Diallo is top priority. I would obviously take him in a heartbeat and hopes he does choose Iowa State. Was just thinking ahead.

Yeah, but how much of Diallo's ranking is due to his potential? Potential does not help ISU much on the court if he is only going to be here 1 year. Like the poster said, I'd take Georges over Noel, and it is not just because Georges is in college longer.

Ok people can we stop the Georges Nerlens thing? Georges ended up being a top 10 scoring big in the country who is completely unique. We are very fortunate to have him and to have gotten in on him so early.

We are not getting another Georges Niang, ever. It's not going to happen.

Did you know they played together in high school?

No, because the Georges-Noel recruiting situation is not unique at all, which is the point. There are dozens of players like Georges that have bigger college impact than guys with better pro potential that are thus ranked ahead of them. Why do you think we got in on him so early?

I bet you the staff does not think this "thing" is a one time deal. We are not talking about another player with game exactly like Georges, but ones the staff feels will be impact players at the college level from Day 1. That said, you are underestimating the staffs ability to find and utilize forwards that elsewhere would look very conventional and average.

You can't just say a player like Ellenson will be as good as Niang though. That's absurd. These one and done type players (because very very few actually do the 1 and done thing) are much more sure things. They are the elite level basketball players in the nation. They have the talent you need to win a national title. And you get a shot to get another elite player the next year.

And yes, the Niang Noel thing is extremely unique because not many players will be so extremely productive like Niang was from the get go and also have such a disadvantage body type wise when it comes to leaving for the NBA.

Noel was a better Freshman than Niang. So if they could only have one for their freshman year I would take Noel.

And Diallo is good. He was the Gatorade player of the year for NY. He is an elite player and again if I could take either Diallo or Ellenson for their freshman year I would take Diallo.

People are just seeing what Niang has done and basing it off that, but Niangs don't grow on trees.

Or get you a first round exit in the NIT.

And you can't just say Diallo will be better in college than Ellenson, or better than Georges. You are right though, comparing Ellenson to Georges is absurd. Ellenson is a top recruit.

Let's go back to why the Georges-Noel situation was brought up. There were posters that prefered Ellenson over Diallo even though Diallo is a higher rated recruit (right now). Georges was a considerably lower rated recruit, yet had a bigger college impact. That is not extremely unique, and it certainly becomes even less so when you compare closer rated guys like Diallo and Ellenson.

We will have an impact freshman again, and they will likely not be rated as high as Diallo. Why? Because there are dozens of players that are not rated as highly as their talent because they do not have the ideal measureables.
