Potential Transfers '14

Or get you a first round exit in the NIT.

And you can't just say Diallo will be better in college than Ellenson, or better than Georges. You are right though, comparing Ellenson to Georges is absurd. Ellenson is a top recruit.

Let's go back to why the Georges-Noel situation was brought up. There were posters that prefered Ellenson over Diallo even though Diallo is a higher rated recruit (right now). Georges was a considerably lower rated recruit, yet had a bigger college impact. That is not extremely unique, and it certainly becomes even less so when you compare closer rated guys like Diallo and Ellenson.

We will have an impact freshman again, and they will likely not be rated as high as Diallo. Why? Because there are dozens of players that are not rated as highly as their talent because they to not have the ideal measureables.

Wait, Nerlens Noel absolutely had a bigger impact (or would've had a bigger impact if he hadn't been injured) in college than Niang did his freshman year. He averaged 10.5 PPG 1.6 APG, 9.5 RPG, 2.1 SPG, and 4.4 BPG in 32 MPG.

That's 1.5 points less than Niang and twice the rebounds, 11 times more blocks, and 3 times more steals.

Kentucky ended up in the NIT BECAUSE Noel was hurt, not because of his talent.

I love Niang and I love what he has and will do at ISU, but people are just getting ridiculous with this.

Would you rather have Niang or Noel and Monte Morris the next 3 years with that scholarship spot? That makes it a little tougher doesn't it?

For Huff to go to Iowa it could also depend on Atwood's decision. Which I don't think he's going to commit to Iowa. But I'm no expert.

Sounds like Atwood is indeed committing to Iowa. Good pick for them, but I know we're not supposed to care. Just responding to this post.

Crystal Ball predicting Arizona State. Not saying it means a ton but Jerry Meyer normally has some inside info. But he's announcing tomorrow.

The Noel vs Georges arguement is good. However it pales in comparason to the McDermott vs barnes arguement.

Meyer's pick on Atwood changed from FSU to Iowa last night, and then again to ASU today. He is fairly accurate when picking in the final few days leading up to a decision. We'll see tomorrow.

It'll be interesting to see some of your opinions after the NBA changes the one and done rule making it that you have to be 20 to enter the draft.

I assumed the Anderson/Diallo question was whether it would affect any desire on his end to come here, not whether we'd still recruit him to come.

For some reason I hadn't thought of Diallo as a 1 and done player. Not a knock on his ability by any means, and to be fair what I saw was like sophomore HS video. Just that not all players/games translate to the NBA in the same time frame. Guessed he'd be a 2 year guy.
This. When I brought it up I was saying that Diallo's desire to come to ISU would likely be lessened by Anderson signing.
I agree with some that he would have a very high likely hood of starting but playing time would still be a concern with 4 seniors capable of playing 4/5. May only get 20-25 mins per game instead of 25-30 else where at a Louisville/Kentucky/Duke that is less experienced down low.
Maybe the whole 2 yrs in college thing will get passed by then and it wouldn't be as big of a deal having a loaded front count for his first season.

Btw, this was really fun to think about/type.

Diallo isn't going to be afraid of getting playing time anywhere he goes. He's playing.

Give me Diallo, and then an Ellenson player for the next class. Why the hell do people compare four years of one guy to another's freshman year? You still get to use that scholarship.
yeah but sophomore Ellenson better than Freshman Ellenson. Each year that investment grows. Plus, when a player goes early you really only have time for a transfer. To me you leave a leave 1 or 2 schollies each year for the elite talent or transfers and 1 or 2 for the 30-100 type player I say a combination of Ellensons, transfers and a Diallo or 2 is the way to a championship. Experienced talent plus some young elite talent that will bloom in march. Which seems to be exactly what a Fred is thinking. In other words a false choice.
