Potential Transfers '14

If we land Anderson I think we would probably be out of the Cheick Diallo running.
Would have McKay, Niang, Williams, and Anderson. Plus Nader at the 4 occasionally.

Not saying it would be a bad thing getting Anderson. Also not saying we will get one or the other. Just adding some additional perspective to this transfer season.

Anderson and cooke will have no bearing on Diallo. If he has interest. We will continue to recruit him.

Certainly wouldn't disagree with getting Anderson, but if it were in fact a choice of a 1 year guy in 15-16 or a multi-year guy, freshman or otherwise, I would have to go for the multi-year.

Also wouldn't second guess at all just going for broke in 15-16.

My personal opinion of the Anderson/Diallo situation and we were to only get 1 I believe both players would be 1 and dones for ISU.. Anderson being a senior and Diallo to the NBA. So wether or not we take 1 of the 2 over the other because of # of eligible years is pretty much irrelevant.

Since nearly everyone will be a senior in our front court that year I'd assume we'd still go after Diallo. There are more than a few top players that stay more than one year in college.

Yeah, I agree. If we have the option to get both I'd take both, but I'd rather take Diallo with a chance to be around the year after that to keep some experience here. Assuming everyone stays, Morris, Thomas, SDW, Custer, and Williams would be our only guys back for that season.

There is a lot of time between now and the '16 - '17 season, I wouldn't worry about it.

I can't imagine tying up a scholarship for 3 years on a guy that scored 34 points in two seasons on a team that wasn't as good as ours unless there is a pretty explicit deal that Henry comes here as well......

In which case I would be totally supportive of it.
Wally was injured with broken hand good part of his freshman year, didn't play since Christmas this year for whatever reason. He was a good high school recruit and the track ability is in play here as well, as he will do both. He's not going to come to Iowa State if he thinks he can't contribute on the floor.

Hallice Cook would be a real interesting additiob, with our other young guards we would be set on the perimeter for the future. Cooke is someone pro scouts have their eye on at least according to one of the national bball gurus

Anderson and Diallo can easily start and play together. They have different skill sets and are totally different players.

Realistically Diallo is probably a long shot. We're right where we want to be with Anderson however.

You don't stop recruiting someone of Diallo's caliber because of playing time... Guy could be one of the best players in the country that year according to his rankings.

Not near as interesting as that word

All kidding aside though, I want Cook

Like others have said, we aren't going to stop recruiting Diallo and he won't have to worry about playing time. That guy is a top 10 play in the nation.

I assumed the Anderson/Diallo question was whether it would affect any desire on his end to come here, not whether we'd still recruit him to come.

For some reason I hadn't thought of Diallo as a 1 and done player. Not a knock on his ability by any means, and to be fair what I saw was like sophomore HS video. Just that not all players/games translate to the NBA in the same time frame. Guessed he'd be a 2 year guy.

Can't seem to get to a link that says we're interested in Wally. You sure its not Henry?

Mark Miller@WisBBYearbook 18 hrs Marquette, Iowa State, Baylor and Texas Tech among the schools showing interest in Minnesota transfer Wally Ellenson.

I know Mark Miller is probably a nobody but its something...
