Spent the afternoon tire kickin in the metro before going to Hilton for the selection show.

Looking at both the Silverado and F150. Both would do the job for me.

Economy (15-21) is equal, and Ford is about 2K more sticker price.

Wondering about the Chevy's 5.3 V8 with 3.42 axle vs the F150 with a 3.73 axle.

No heavy towing planned at this point, so just looking for some drivetrain feedback.

There's a reason Chevy has been designated the "longest lasting" truck for more than 20+ years.......superior drive train quality/reliability.

I had a 07 Chevy 1500 with the 5.3.. I liked it alot!! I had a 05 Dodge before... Top to bottom it kicked the Dodge's ***... I did alot of hauling with it.. No problems...

just my 2 cents. My friend had a 2006 ford 150 and it really crapped out on him after about 70000 miles... I just traded in my Chevy with 94000 miles and hadnt put a nickle into it... And I drove it hard!!

I have a 2011 f-150 with the ecoboost engine and really like it so far. I haven't done muching towing so I can't really comment about that. I know a guy that raises cattle and a 2011 F-150 is his only truck, so he pulls a livestock trailer with it and everything.

I think the F150 is built better than the Chevy 1500. I have an 08 2500HD and it has had little issues and doubt my transfer case will last to 100,000 miles. My brother a Chevy the same age but with the LTZ package and it has had a lot of problems biggest with the LTZ features plus the tranny went out on it. We do use them as work pickups though, mine more than his, but they have their issues.

I really dont know much about how the Fords stand up.

The drivetrain in the Chevy is bulletproof. That engine has been around this long for a reason. I don't know much about the Fords. I know they look nice but they still seem to be a little cheap on the interior. A lot of rattles and things seem to surface.

Chevrolet / GMC ...warranty 36 x 36 bumper to bumper 5 year 100,000 PT....best in business

plus free on star and xm radio 6 months....

Have had both over last 6 years....

drive 2012 GMC SLT Crew now

I have an F 150 super crew with about 100K on it. Other than ball joints and now I need to to replace the U-joints, I have haven't had problems... well it did hit a deer once (but I wasn't driving).

had a Ford, got a Chevy. liked both. the new fords r very nice. company I work for switched their cars from Chevy to Ford. one guy was a die hard Chevy guy and was ******. now he's a quasi Ford guy-he loves it.

Both build millions of these vehicles and they are both reliable. Buy the one that you like best. I would also put the Toyota in the mix.

I went with a 2012 Chevy this past fall and I love it. Well I should say my wife loves it because she drives it. :twitcy:
