Big 12 Strength of Schedule

Using Draft Kings current win total data and doing some adjustments to lines that are not -110 here is was I came up with. Traditional SOS looks at last years records but you would figure bookmaker numbers would be better. And to no ones surprise just looking at the teams ISU plays they have the hardest schedule. The number represents the total wins their 9 opponents are expected to have from the bookmakers numbers. Certainly these can change and I will probably look every week or so to see if they have.

Question for Iowa Birdwatchers

Am I crazy for thinking I’ve seen Golden Eagles around the Iowa River Greenbelt area in Hardin County? I’m not a novice when it comes to Iowa birds but I am extremely colorblind but on the other hand they aren’t all that colorful anyway. These would be mature adults based on the size of the 3 I’ve seen over the last two years.

The Cyclone Family lost a great one this past week

Iowa State lost a great cyclone last week. My father was a graduate in 1979 with a degree in electrical engineering and it took him many great places. He was at the last Iowa State home game in the old stadium as a High School senior and the first one at Jack Trice as a college freshman. He told me many great stories about ISU and he was pretty much reason #1 I even thought about coming here.

He battled colon cancer for almost 10 years and almost 200 chemo treatments before it was finally just too much for him. The doctors originally had given him just 6 months. He could never visit me while at school out here in Ames and he always said he wanted to see me walk across that stage in Hilton before he went. He never missed a game on TV and he was cremated in an Iowa State shirt and will always be a "Loyal son forever true"

Northern France Vacation - What to see, tips.

My wife and I are taking a vacation trip to Northern France in October. We are spending 3 1/2 days in the Normandy area and then 2 1/2 days in Paris. We are planning the Normandy beaches and also the obvious things in Paris. we will have a car, except in Paris the last couple days.

You guys are always very good at sharing what you liked. Any thoughts on places to visit and see? TIA.

Good Will McDonald IV Article in Athletic

Good article in the Athletic about Will's difficult path in life to get to ISU and the NFL. I know it is a pay site, but here is a snippet.

In Ames, McDonald quickly became a force. He was known for “terrorizing” practice, Rasheed [DL Coach] said. There was no off switch. Coaches had to tell him to calm down during walkthroughs, which are supposed to be low effort. “He’d go full speed on the first rep and he’d say, ‘Coach, I don’t know how to slow down,'” Rasheed said. “I’d say: Amen to that.”

“He was going 100 miles an hour,” [O'Rien] Vance said. The offensive linemen “hated him. That was just his No. 1 goal: To ruin their day.”

His first college game was at TCU, as a freshman in 2018. First play: strip-sack, fumble.

“We were just like: Yeah, he’s got it,” Vance said. “He’s one of those.
