Prey

So I signed up for a free Hulu trial specifically so I could watch the movie Prey, which is billed as a predator prequel set in the 1700s. From what I was able to learn, it follows a Cherokee tribe and a girl in that tribe who is also a warrior as she tries to protect the tribe from the predator invasion.

After I signed up for Hulu, I did a search for Prey but was unable to find it so I cancelled the free week trial. Does anyone know where I can watch Prey?

Naked and Afraid TV Show

Figured I better include the "TV Show" part in the title as just Naked and Afraid surely would generate some interesting replies. Anyone here watch this show? I don't watch every episode but I have made a point to watch the XL versions of it as they are a lot more entertaining than the usual 21 day 2 person challenges. I still will watch some of those on occasion but the XL season are so much better.

The new season right now where they started with 4 teams of 3 with 1 planning to do a 60 day challenge and the other two doing a 40 day in the Amazon has been interesting so far. Already had multiple people tap out within the first few days as that environment is just brutal. I really enjoyed the previous XL season where they were in the Louisiana swamps as the weather was starting to turn to winter but as rough as that environment was it looks like a cakewalk compared to the Amazon this season.

CF content ideas

From the request for ideas on the podcast:

1. How about an update on the sports performance center? Maybe a walk-through with Campbell...what he thinks about he project, how it will help the program, bells and whistles that they are including, or at least pointing out what is going where. Or maybe Pollard does it. Timeline of the project. Maybe some input from someone like Ben Bruns.

2. Update from Pollard on the entertainment district, pedestrian bridge. Potential timeline, when/if new parking lots will be constructed.

3. Update from Campbell on how the virus affects recruiting timeline and spring practice.

4. Interview with the new S&C coach on what he thinks of the roster and what they are currently doing. How winter conditioning went.

5. I wouldn't mind hearing from the Soccer and Softball coaches, as they are getting new locker rooms and training facilities in the new building.

6. Dresser post mortem..assuming wrestling season is now over.

Off Base Comment about the Big 12

I read this article from "Saturday Down South":

and I was taken aback by a comment made by an SEC AD (18th paragraph down in the first section of the article):
"By the time the 14 schools voted on the schedule format for 2024 — Texas and Oklahoma were part of the process, but didn’t vote — it was every man for himself. It was so preposterously provincial, one athletic director told SDS, “our new friends (Texas and Oklahoma) must have felt right at home, like they were back in the Big 12.”"

What a clueless comment! Texas and Oklahoma were the ones who were the most provincial! I couldn't think of another school in the Big 12 that was close to being as provincial as OUT (unless I just wasn't aware of how some of the Remaining 8 were).

Hail damage and insurance dispute

Hey everyone, got a question to see if anyone else has had to deal with something similar. We live in a newly constructed house in north ames, so our roof is just a couple of years old. We were in an area that got leveled by the hail the other Friday.

Anything facing south on our property or any neighbors is destroyed. Sidings have holes and cracks every few inches and vinyl fence has holes everywhere.

The contractor also said we 100 percent have roof damage (which I anticipated based off everything else). Anyway, the insurance adjuster, travelers, came out and only used a drone to assess the roof.. Which they are claiming only had 3 hits and doesn't qualify for a new roof. Literally every single neighbor I've asked has said they're getting a new roof.. So I assume my roof wasn't miraculously spared.

The contractor is going to submit more photos to the adjustor of what they deem damage. But I'm not really sure what to do beyond that if they don't agree.

Flex Protect Plus scheduling and if the Big 12 would adopt a similar model

The Big 10 announced its conference matchups for the 2024 and 2025 season. They have done away with divisions and the conference game will be a simple #1 v #2. The major innovation is how they are protecting key rivalries. They have have adopted what they are calling Flex Protect Plus model. While the name doesn't really tell you much on its face, it boils down to each conference member can have up to three protected annual conference games each year, but are not required to have three.

In practice this results in most of the members having one or two annual rivalries protected: OSU-Michigan, Michigan-MSU, USC-UCLA, Rutgers-Maryland, etc. Penn St ends up with no protected rivalries, while Iowa has three with Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Minnesota.

So looking at the future Big 12, I am curious how this model would apply. I would say the obvious ones are Sunflower, Farmaggedon, Revivalry, UH-Tech, WVU-Cinci. I would imagine that UCF and BYU wouldn't have any protected annual rivals, but what other matchups do you feel need to be protected? ISU-OSU, BYU-TCU, UCF-UH, others?

Jungle, plane crash, 4 kids survive, 40 days. And earlier...

Miraculous story out of Colombia https://www.huffpost.com/entry/colombia-plane-crash-children_n_6483c759e4b048eb910f320a

Another earlier plane crash from 1971:

Juliane Koepcke was flying over the Peruvian rainforest with her mother when her plane was hit by lightning. She survived a two-mile fall and found herself alone in the jungle, just 17. More than 40 years later, she recalls what happened.

Anyone know this Des Moines patio?

Going downtown tomorrow and was looking for some new bars with patios. Came across this post from Catch Des Moines. The heading picture looks like a good spot for a night cap but I can’t figure out where it is. Looks like East Village, probably Locust St, but I can’t find it on google street view.

Anyone recognize it?
