Congratulations to the following city of Ames employees

Anyone that is overseeing the disaster on the corner of 24th St. & Stange as well as SE. 16th St. and South Duff. Give yourself an extra special pat on the back due to your epic level of incompetence.

There has been absolutely zero sense of urgency since these projects began. You guys obviously couldn’t care less about inconveniencing Ames residents. Your boss is clearly putting zero pressure on you to get the job done, that you are putting zero pressure on the contractors to finish it up.

Yes, I’m mad bro

Dynasty fantasy football

Does anyone do this? I was given control of a team in an existing league and I’ve never done dynasty before. Basically I need to know if a trade I just made was awful because the receiving team accepted immediately.

It is a 10 team half point ppr standard 1qb league.

I gave 1.2 and trey McBride to get 1.6 and Kyle pitts, who is instantly the best tight end on the roster. I really need wr and te help and didn’t think the wr value was there at 1.2.

Ranking road trips in the new Big 12

Listening to CW and Blum debate a trip to Provo vs a trip to Cincinnati got me wondering. What is CF's ranking of Big 12 road trips in the NEW Big 12? (no OuT$$$$)

I'm assuming no one has been to all 4 of the new stadiums, so it can be a mix of where you have been and what you already know mixed with a wish list of places you haven't been and how you think they might stack up. Or just a straight wish list of where you haven't been.

Short explanation or reasoning is appreciated, if you wish to do so.

Alaska Cruise

I’m hoping to not spawn a lot of parody threads with yet another travel-related thread, but I do find you all have a lot of good information on a lot of subjects, so…

Any advice for a Holland America Alaska Cruise (heading south). We have shore facing rooms. What, if any, excursions should we look into. I haven’t been on a cruise in more than a decade. Does one still have to dress for dinner? Is Wi-Fi on the boats useful or useless? Drink packages, yea or nay?

Basically, other than being on the water, I have little idea of what we are rolling into, so any advice, guidance, or tips would be useful.

Friday OT2: Sturgis

Do you go to a concert, boating, motorcycle, camping, snowmobile gathering every year?
Maybe your family rents a cabin in Northern Minnesota and you fish, waterski?

What is an annual event you put on the calendar and you never want to miss it? Any good stories that go along with it?

Basketball Tournament Format

With 16 teams what’s everyone think of the Big12 basketball tournament? I really don’t like the idea of double byes that other conferences do. What about a 2 day first round?

Day 1
1v16
4v13
3v14
2v15

Day 2
5v12
8v9
7v10
6v13

Gives top 4 an advantage with an extra day rest, but it doesn’t go over the top with a double bye.

Jack Trice 100

The year-long centennial commemoration of Jack Trice's legacy at Iowa State was announced this morning. This appears to be another fine example of the ability this university has to bring multiple departments together to create programs and initiatives that have a lasting impact for the ISU community. The Athletic Department is working with the University Museums, multiple departments in the University, the Alumni Association, the City of Ames, and multiple alumni to create a program of commemorations that will include new throwback uniforms being worn!

Here is a portion of the announcement that ISU released this morning:

Over the next year, Iowa State University will commemorate Jack Trice, the university's first Black athlete who aspired to use his education to help Black farmers in the South.

Trice was an Iowa State student of animal husbandry and a member of the Cyclone football and track and field teams. He suffered severe injuries in his second collegiate football game and died in Ames on Oct. 8, 1923. He was 21.

Trice is the namesake of the university's football stadium, the only one at the nation's major college football schools to be named for a Black man.

There will be major centennial programs and events to honor him, including a new sculpture at Jack Trice Stadium, a new name for the street just north of the stadium, a lecture series, a University Museums exhibition, a Cyclone football game featuring Jack Trice-era throwback uniforms and a new website, jacktrice100.com. Additional programs and events will be announced over the coming year and posted to the website.

The Jack Trice 100 website is very well done as well.

I look forward to learning more about the programs as they are announced throughout the year!

Didn't see this posted, but I'd think this is likely a good sign...
