Trouble finding games with Google

Whenever I want to know what channel a game is on I usually just pull out my phone and Google a team. For example, if you google 49ers it shows they play tomorrow but then you have click on the TV listing tab which then shows it is on Fox, which I don't think is correct.

I used to be able to find this info in about 5 seconds, now I end up opening an app or finding a website and scrolling through a bunch of junk to find the info I'm looking for, it really annoys me. Anybody know what's up or have a solution? Maybe I just wanted to rant a little.

Matt Campbell's Most Important Game...

Sure, it sounds like "Coach Speak" to say that the next game is the most important game in the Matt Campbell Tenure, but the OkSt game is. It was ok for him to lose the Iowa game. It sucks, but his job security was never in question for losing that. The Ohio game was a disaster for multiple reasons, but he was still not in danger because he has proven to be able to win at Iowa State (at some capacity). We are frustrated with the team, but you reading this on a Cyclone site means something...

Here is the truth.... Losing at Iowa State does not get you fired. Let's face it. We are not LSU or Nebraska that can fire their coach after going 10-2 or 9-3 just because they think he will never win at the level they want. ISU hopes that you make a bowl every other year and putting out multiple losing seasons a couple years in a row isn't the end of the world. Yes, there is a point to when losing is a factor in the ISU HC being fired, but it is not mutually exclusive to the REAL reason...

The real reason you get fired at Iowa State: Apathy. We all know what to expect for our opening play of the first drive. We have seen it every game of every year. It worked once: 2021 KSU. Every other time it was like running into a brick wall. And if ISU does the same play this weekend, I expect "Boos" although I will not participate. The fanbase is tired. The gameplan isn't working and we are BEGGING for a change.....

So what happens if it doesn't change? What happens if we continue to try what doesn't work? I'll tell you. We will have about 53,000 fans for the TCU game. 40,000 fans for the KU game and a burnt orange stadium for the Texas game. You will think: "We need to fire this coach cuz we suck." Jamie Pollard will think: "We had an AMAZING year for season ticket sales, and these people are choosing to stay home. They already had the ticket and they chose not to use it. We are going to sell much less next year." As the athletic director, one of your KPIs is "Season Ticket Sales." It's a huge, dependable revenue generator and the way to sell season tickets is to sell excitement. That will move Pollard's needle....

Rhoads was fired because the fan base became apathetic. Prohm got fired because the majority of Cyclone Nation didn't watch the 2020 season even during a pandemic with nothing else to do. I hope that the staff makes a change. I love the Cyclones and Rocco is a stud. I still believe in Campbell and hope he takes the steps he needs to.

On That Note: Kind of Like an Artist

“National Arts & Humanities Month” is coming in October.

For this segment, we explore songs with titles, lyrics or themes connected with art, painting and well-known artists/works of art.

“Does not apply” caveat: (1) Photography (acceptable if it overlaps with main premise) ... (2) “artist” in context of "music artist."

“On That Note” is presented weekly on Cyclone Fanatic by @MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and cyclones500.

My first selection, connecting w/ thread title.

“Well she’s kind of like an artist.”

BS jobs

I listened to an interesting lecture on BS jobs. That is to say jobs that aren't really necessary or one doesn't really do much of anything. Maybe in a 40 hour work week there is only a couple hours of actual "work".

Now, I realize there are often very "real" jobs created by or existing in support of these jobs (i.e. often others have to clean the place etc.), but aside from that, the impact on the world economically is dubious at best. And it's your job to do that.

The criteria in particular being a job that could be eliminated or consolidated with something else relatively easily with little to no impact in the greater scheme of things, and the job holder is well aware that this is the case.

Q: Have you ever had a BS job?
Q: Did/do you like it?
Q: Compensation?
...etc.

Tell us about your experience.

Copium Time

Alright everyone, time to stop shitting on Campbell and coaching staff. I agree it was a bad loss but those can happen. Campbell isn't getting the boot this year even if we lose out so no point in talking about it on this super influential message board.

It's copium time now. First, we need to rationalize the loss. I'm elite at rationalizing my failures and shortcomings, as my gf would tell you. Ohio is a great team that may even finish the season ranked; they were the best team in the MAC last year and clearly got even better. The loss seems horrible on paper but we just played Ohio football at their peak in many, many years and we were their Super Bowl (as the couple Ohio fans I met at the bar were yelling pregame).

Second, many of the remaining games on our schedule are definitely still winnable. Oklahoma State, Baylor, Cincinnati, and Kansas are all winnable games. If we can find one more win, we're in a bowl game. Now I'm not saying we will win all these games, but you can't all sit here and tell me we don't have a good chance (under one score spreads) against these teams. If we end up making a bowl game, I don't think anyone can complain about the season, even if the first three weeks were disappointing.

The offense and kicker are still infuriating. Yes, it sucks that the issues from last year haven't yet been fixed. Maybe we will lose out or only win one or two in conference play and Campbell's seat warms up for next season. But there's still a lot of football left to be played and wins may still be yet to come. Let's look forward to the rest of the season and be good fans instead of bitter haters.
