Class of 2024 Breakdown

Guys (and ladies).

I must admit that I did not have the excitement to make another one of these threads due to the struggle with the team that began at the end of 2021. With the recent success (and also me reviewing my evaluations of guys like Becht and Cooper), I feel energized and excited to share my thoughts on these players. I look forward to seeing what you guys think. I will do my best to post a couple guys every week.

*****IMPORTANT NOTE*****
I want to make clear the vocabulary that is the "Player Comp." Over the past few years, I have given player comps in these evals to try to paint of picture of the play styles of a prospect. When I make a player comp, I am not projecting the career that the prospect is likely to have, but moreso the play style they have. For instance, I may compare Deon Silas is comped to Darren Sproles (rather than a guy like Jerome Bettis), meaning he is a short back that makes quick cuts to get yards and not his body. I am not saying that Deon is likely to be a Heisman finalist and have a 15 year NFL career; that projection is in a different section.

I don't want you to think I'm incredibly delusional and believe that we are going to have a team full of Heisman hopefuls.

Let's get started......

sitting 3-1 in conference play

we are sitting 3-1 in conference right now with 3 very winnable games coming out of the bye before texas comes to town in november. if everything goes out way we could be 6-1 in conference and playing texas in a game that would be huge.! anyone think that was possible early in the season when we were playing so many freshman in weeks 1-3.

i love the way nate is calling the games. and higgins has been a great complement to jalen on the other side. im starting to feel real good about the rest of the season.

feel free to chime in

Survivor 45

Been meaning to start a new thread for this season. I probably will not check in or post for a few days after each episode as right now my Wednesday nights are busy and my kids are into the show now so we usually don't get around to watching the new episodes until the weekend.

Episode 1 - I hate when players quit like that. There are so many people that apply for Survivor and when someone flat out quits especially the very 1st tribal council it has to really piss off people that made it through interviews and didn't get selected. Even as a fan it frustrates me as I want to see players that actually want to be there and do everything they can to stay in the game.

Episode 2- No shock to see Brandon voted out, he has the weak link from day 1 with challenges

Episode 3 - great blindside with Sabiyah, another 1st in Survivor with someone using the fire at tribal council to melt wax down to get an idol only to go home with it in their pocket

Random thoughts so far: Guessing a mix up is coming soon but would be fun to see if Lulu tribe can just decimate themselves by continuing to lose challenges. If there is a puzzle involved they pretty much are doomed as they've not come close in any challenges that have had a puzzle in it. I can't stand Emily, was hoping she would get voted out by now but she's somehow taken the target off her back and weaseled her way into the right side of the numbers on Lulu. She seems like the type though that as soon as there is a merge she'll be a snake in the grass. I think some of the people on Belo who don't like Bruce are overplaying the "this is his 2nd time playing." While that is true the dude didn't even make it past the 1st episode last season so just how much of an advantage does that really give him when he barely played the game and didn't even go to a tribal council. I like some of the new twists with the immunity idols so far too. A lot of people used to complain how it was too easy to find idols and there were too many of them in play that messed up the votes and now they have added some more risks and disadvantages to finding them that makes them a temporary negative if you lose your vote in order to find or keep an idol long enough where you can use it later in the game.

On That Note: Night of the Vampire

Since it’s October, we at OTN want to do something with a Halloween tie-in. This week, the topic is focused solely one one Halloween monster/creature: the vampire.

We’re looking for songs with the words vampire, Dracula, bite/biting, suck, blood and other associated terms. It may appear in either/both the title or lyrics.

“On That Note” is presented weekly by @MeanDean, @cyclones500 and myself.

We Will Collective contributor numbers

Hey all,

Have seen some questions about where We Will stands on a couple of different topics as it relates to our peers. Note that it is very difficult to find exact data on these because collectives aren't obligated to share info and most won't for competitive reasons, but based on what I can tell this is where things stand.

The largest collectives have an annual budget of $10M plus. We aren't anywhere near that at the moment. We are staying afloat for now, but need everyone's help to compete with our peers who are at the $4-6M level, which is where the majority of the Big 12 lives. We don't have a huge marketing budget because we want to use as many resources as possible for the Cyclones, so word of mouth is the single best way to share. We have 800 monthly contributors as of this second giving $10 or more per month. I really would love to get that number to 2,000 by the time the portal opens. We will need it. Please tell your Cyclone colleagues and friends. You may not think the beer, coffee, golf balls, merch and everything else adds up, but it really does to make Iowa State competitive. Go to www.wewillcollective.com to learn more and if you have individual questions reach out at [email protected]. Thanks all!

RECRUITING: 2026 guard Yusef Gray Jr. impressed by Ames on Iowa State visit

RECRUITING: 2026 guard Yusef Gray Jr. came away from his visit impressed by Ames and humbled by Iowa State's chemistry & culture.

Yormark nuggets from WBB/MBB Media Days

*Early discussions underway to keep both tournaments in Kansas City through 2031. Goal is to have agreement finalized by March.

*Starting 2024-25, men will play 20 conference games and women will play 18. Difference is due to coaches' requests and the WBB tournament occurring a week earlier than MBB.

*Potential for "enhanced" broadcasts and coverage. Hinted at what the NFL is doing to bring in younger audience.

*Football scheduling parameters will include geography, competitive balance, history, and rivalries. Work ongoing.

*Olympic sport scheduling will focus on geography as well.

Edit to add: *Will explore splitting MBB and FB TV contracts in the future. Has the option, but will only do so if the value is there.

*New weekly SiriusXM radio show focusing on WBB and Olympic sports.

*Big 12 Mexico on track for Dec. 2024 (Kansas/Houston men and women).

*Rucker Park event again next summer, potentially with an alumni game included.

*Shaq making a return to P&L for 2024 tournament.

*Additional premium seating and hospitality options for fans at MBB/WBB championships.

This probably isn’t going to age well….

But going into the bye week there is a path to the Big 12 title game. Humor me for a min, but right now ISU has the best loss in the conference (at OU). If they can find a way to beat Baylor they have a real chance. KU is very good team with their quarterback and not a very good team without him. BYU and KState are VERY up and down. And they get Texas in Ames in the middle of November ( probably at night) so who knows what the weather could be. But if they beat Texas they could lose a game somewhere else and still have a tiebreaker over Texas. And Texas has tough games with Texas Tech and a KState team that plays them very well.

I’m just saying…..
