Do you prefer to watch professional football or college ball?

I don't know exactly what it is about pro football, but I just can't get into it. Maybe it would be different if there was a team in Iowa but I doubt it. Maybe it is that it is too polished. I can get in watching air force vs wyoming, but I just don't have any interest in watching pro teams. Although I go to super bowl parties, I look forward to the food and the hang, but not really the game. I prefer the halftime commercials. I also feel like the fans in college are typically more rabid about their teams. Not always, but generally. The band helps and so do the students. NFL just seems boring to me.

*** 2023-2024 College Football Survivor Week 9 ***

Tiebreaker points return this year. A reminder regarding tiebreaker points: If your team wins and covers you gain an extra bonus point. If you take a undefeated team who is the underdog you gain the point for them covering plus another bonus point. As the season goes on the number of teams undefeated being a underdog greatly diminish so take advantage while you can.

Amateur or Pro?

McNamara, who said money was an explicit part of his search for a new school, got an offer from a collective at the University of Iowa called the Swarm Collective. It pays about $600 an hour.

For Grant Mahoney

Ok, ok, bear with me: Neil De Grasse Tyson's YouTube discussion, "A mind-bending discussion of the Universe."

Check in at the 20:20 mark and wait for it. A Cincinnati Bengals field goal plays a prominent role in this anecdote. And, darn, Neil even mentions cyclones! Did you ever take into your kicking calculations this physics law? Heh.

Thought you might get a kick out of this segment.

Best.

ESPN Gameday and laughing

Possibly the most annoying thing (among many) about ESPN's College Gameday is all the laughing. Have you ever just sat there and listened to how much they laugh.... and at stuff that isn't funny whatsoever. Especially Desmond Howard, my word.

They HAVE to be told to do that by the producers, etc, right? They talk about nothing that is even remotely funny, and all start laughing like crazy.

McAfee will make his score prediction on a game.... say 21-10... and Howard will just burst out laughing for no reason. He's either told to do that or he's on some serious 'happy' drugs.

I know, I know... if I don't like it, don't watch... but I do find some of the stories interesting. But I do watch a LOT less now than ever before.

Pollard and Wrestling

I am not his biggest fan for various reasons, but I have to give the Devil his due.

He showed up last night in Ankeny when he really didn't have to and the commitment he made to the wrestling team, and the help he has given to get the best facility in the country done deserves a big thumbs up from all ISU wrestling fans.

He stuck his neck out for this program and it is much appreciated by all involved. Now let's get the money raised and get in that facility!!!
