Nebraska’s demise

I already posted this in another thread that @Jeremy nixed (probably because you guys got out of control). It was my “most liked” post ever.

So I must repost about what may have been my best sports moment ever (and I’ve had some great ones). And I think it best fits in the “in-state rivals” forum because of the emotion involved with the Fuskers.

I watched the epic Cyclone TD drive from a tailgate in Lincoln. Then watched the rest of the game on my phone inside Memorial Stadium.

But more fun came a few hours later as my wife’s nephew, the quarterback for Georgia Southern, scored the winning touchdown against Nebraska. 8D3F41EA-B8CD-4ED5-A9AC-6E2D833292D4.jpegDBDDE357-DE63-413D-8669-C995BCEBFEA6.jpeg And you know what he was talking about after the game? The fact that he had thrown 108 passes in two games at Memorial Stadium and never been sacked. He started for Buffalo last year. He couldn’t wait to take his offensive lineman out for a steak dinner.

Hail Southern!

Blocked Punts

Watching the replay of the game. After our 3 and out on the first drive of the game, the line of scrimmage was the 24.5 yard line. Perkins was set up at the 10 yard line. Snap was perfect. Perkins caught it at the 11. He took 3 steps forward and kicked it at the 15 yard line. VanNess met our blocker at the 17, pushed him back to the 16 and blocked the kick rather easily with his left arm extended.

Iowa faced a 4th down on their 2nd drive at their own 34 yard line. Taylor was set up at the 19 and caught the snap at the 19. He took 2 steps forward and kicked it at the 22. ISU got no pressure at all on the punt.

Seems pretty simple. Perkins needs to catch the ball 15 yards from the LOS instead of 13.5 yards. He also needs to take 2 steps instead of 3 steps. Feel free to offer me an assistant coaching position.

Bicycle right-of-way question

I'm mainly asking for bicyclists' opinions. Here is the situation:

Car is traveling north on a two lane street with bike lane markings on the right edge of the street (I'd call it more of a bike route marking than a dedicated bike lane). A small group of bicyclists is also traveling north on the sidewalk at a reasonable rate of speed, but slower than vehicles. The car goes past the bicycles and needs to make a right hand turn into a parking lot of a grocery store. The car will get to the entrance/crosswalk first, but the bicyclists would likely need to slow down (yield to the car). Who has the right of way, should the car stop on the road and wait for the bikes to pass or should the bicyclists slow down to yield when they see the car's turn signal from behind?

(For anyone wondering I was an observer of the above situation while outside the grocery store. The car started to turn, but then stopped just prior to the crosswalk when the saw the bicyclists still approaching at the same rate of speed. The bicyclists then stopped and everyone was aggrieved.)
