The Cap City League tips off Sunday. No ISU guys playing this year but we have partnered with Brent Blum and the We Will Collective to have multiple players come every week for "Cyclone Sundays".
This is a chance for Cyclone fans to meet the returning and incoming players, get autographs and pictures, and show the guys the level of support they will receive during the season. We might even test their skills in a 3 point contest or a game of knock out with the kids in attendance.
Sunday June 25 features: Tamin Lipsey, Big Rob Energy (aka Big Bob) and freshmen Kayden Fish and Jelani Hamilton.
Bonus: stay and watch some very competitive games featuring talented small college, JUCO, high school and unsigned players from across Central Iowa.
BATON ROUGE, La. - An independent infractions panel handed a two-year show-cause penalty and a 10-game suspension to former LSU and current McNeese State men's basketball coach Will Wade on
I wanted to make a separate thread for those that don't go into the NBA thread.
With the Wizards acquiring Jones, I would still anticipate them to cut Chris Paul. If that happens Monte will get minutes. If the Wizards keep them both I don't think Monte will get many minutes.
Also, Boston got a lot for Smart. Who know WTF the Wizards are doing. Login to view embedded media
Another Tuesday Wednesday and time for another On That Note. Brought to you by your hosts, @cyclones500, @CycloneRulzzz and me.
This being June, the traditional month for weddings, I thought I'd do a topic on wedding rings. We have expanded it to include all jewelry. Also any songs with title or lyrics containing the words jewel or jewelry are allowed.
So things like ring, bracelet, necklace, locket, watch, pin, etc are acceptable.
Two clarifications:
1. Since we previously did rocks and gems as on OTN topic - the posts today cannot only mention a type of gem, it must mention an item of jewelry. So Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds doesn't count
2. Ring has to be specifically meaning the jewelry, not ring like the sound of a telephone/bell or ring like a boxing ring etc. So Ring of Fire doesn't count. Same with Watch. Only used as an item of jewelry - so All Along the Watchtower or Watching the Wheels do not qualify.
Last week's topic was: The Air That I Breathe. It can be found here:
Welcome to another edition of “On That Note,” CF’s weekly music series, co-hosted by @MeanDean, @cyclones500 and myself. This week we are looking for songs with breath, breathe or air in the title or lyrics. Other variations of word breathe and breath are also allowed. Last Week: Well Well Well
"She said no one else will do
Hold me, we're alone
But as she spoke her locket broke
And I guess I might have known
Inside was Fabian, Avalon, Ricky Nelson too
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Bobby Rydell and I know darn well
Presley's in there too" Login to view embedded media
Had a strange late afternoon. We found our neighbor dead in her backyard across our alley. It was so...strange. I haven't ever seen a dead body in the real/ongoing world. Hospitals and stuff yes. But life going on around, cars driving by and people walking dogs. It was just...so sad and surreal. It's also nearly 100 degrees and she was definitely in the sun all day from the looks of things. She had the garden hose in her hand and the backdoor was ajar and tv was on. Likely she just went out back to water plants/flowers in this drought and either had a heat stroke or heart attack on the spot. Have you ever found a person deceased before?
Here we go middle-aged dads, everything we've been waiting for.... the first original 2D Mario platformer in over a decade (ignoring all the "New" re-releases).
Have you ever wondered what a brand-new Mario platformer game would look like? Please watch the video to find out! The Super Mario Bros.™ Wonder game comes out on Oct. 20. If you’re wondering, you can pre-order today. Wonderful!
Hello! My dad is a 40 year season ticket holder for football (he has had the same seats the whole time). But mobility issues have made it tougher and tougher to make it to our seats in the stadium. He is looking to swap seats with another season ticket holder in section 5. Our current seats are in row 24 (we have 4 seats). Looking to move up (so there are less stairs involved) and by an isle. If you are in section 5 and looking to move closer to the field, please let me know! He has already reached out to the ticket office and swapping seats is the option they recommended. Go Cyclones!
This Saturday on June 24th. We also have a silent & live auction.
One of the items on the silent auction is an Iowa State hat with the #6 stitched on it. 5 more will be sold on the live auction on Saturday. We will then draw a winner from the 6 that purchased the hats for 2 NCAA Tournament tickets in Kansas City.
As soon as the link is posted, I will get it posted here
Iowa State found its 11th commitment to the 2024 recruiting class on Tuesday in Colorado offensive line prospect A.J. Burton. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound prospect was in town over the weekend for his official visit, along with a number of others either already committed or considering Iowa State...
I seem to remember a post awhile back where some jobs would randomly be added to let people know. I've tried searching and can't find it. Otherwise I'd re-read that and post accordingly.
Our neighbor came over around 8 last night to inform us he was going to get his tree removed in the next 3-5 weeks. He proceeds to tell me that I need to move my car so they can get equipment into his backyard.
He comes back ten minutes later and tells me they will be there tomorrow morning at 8 am. My problem is they have an access gate on the north side of his house at least four foot wide. I have a new concrete driveway about a foot off the property line, a basketball hoop with a full sand base on my side two foot off the line, and his A/C unit. Only two feet of grass between.
Pretty sure his wife doesn’t want them using their north access due to a concrete patio in their backyard.
Do I have the right to deny them access? I am guessing they will want to use my driveway to move equipment into his back yard as to avoid going across his yard. If they would happen to break my concrete, Is the tree company responsible to repair or my neighbor?
I did tell my neighbor’s wife last month that if their dead tree fell on someone’s property that they would responsible for any damage. She kept telling me, “Nope! You are wrong!” I finally explained to her that if the tree was healthy and alive then you wouldn’t be responsible. She then changed her tune.
Long time ISU season ticket holder. Youngest son is graduating from ….. Iowa next spring. Good thing is I’ve only seen him in an Iowa shirt once. We live in Ames, both parents and one son are ISU grads, other daughter and youngest are/will be Iowa grads. We failed…sort of. We always tailgate in the Haunted Forest. Let me know if you are looking to sell a couple to a fellow cyclone. TIA!
Just curious how different employers are handling the Juneteenth holiday. It's a full on holiday for my company. We're entirely closed. My wife's employer gave people an extra day of PTO, and the option to take it off, but the company is open.
Williams and Blum discuss Bob Huggins’ ungraceful exit from West Virginia. The guys get into Omaha Biliew’s impressive performances with the U19 Team USA roster, and what it means for next year’s Cyclone hoops team. Plus, are we nearing the end of preseason college football magazines? Presented...
