XM/Sirius merger approved

Re: XM/Sirius meger approved

Cool...now maybe all new cars will only have one sat radio provider!

Re: XM/Sirius meger approved

Still has to pass the FCC...Hopefully they will not get in the way. I am just renewing my 3 year subscription.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: XM/Sirius meger approved

i hate xm. if i got it offered for free with a new car, i would pay for sirius instead.

Re: XM/Sirius meger approved

I have 3 xm and 2 sirius radios (and 2 monthly bills).
It will be nice to shed a few radios and 1 bill.

Re: XM/Sirius meger approved

I am not a subscriber so it really doesn't affect me in any way. The first thing that came to mind however was pricing. Do you guys think they will up their prices a little now since there is no competition?

Re: XM/Sirius meger approved

this is big. I love my Sirius, and being able to add a couple XM channels is key!

Part of the agreement with the Justice Department was there would be tier options for customers and the prices would be frozen for, I believe, 3 years.

I wasn't a huge fan of the merger because I believe that XM and Sirius have 2 VERY different programming styles and it's likely that Sirius' "FM over satellite" style will win out. The companies brought this upon themselves though by getting into bidding wars 4 years ago. For sports, its a win-win. AS LONG as the merged company is willing to hold on to contracts.

And tripled in the 4th.

Re: XM/Sirius meger approved

I've had both. Sirius kicks the crap out of XM. I am curious to see what happens though. XM did have a couple channels I miss.

Re: XM/Sirius meger approved

I used to have Sirius then had to switch to XM when I got my new car. They both have their advantages and disadvantages so will be nice to be able to pick from both lineups hopefully. I do miss having the NFL on Sirius but XM has MLB which is a plus too. Some of the music stations on both are better than some of the ones on the other provider.

I guess I am not sure what Sirius's sytle is since I listen to XM exclusively. How would you compare the two?

Re: XM/Sirius meger approved

Isn't the biggest deal for sports fan the fact that one has MLB, the other has NFL?

There are a few music channels on XM that do have commercials which is the 1 thing I don't like. Never had that with a Sirius music channel.

Hard to explain but some of the music lineups and formats just seem better on Sirius although I have found a few I like better on XM too. Both have their pros and cons, being able to pick ala carte will be a plus if they allow it.

Good thing I bought a lifetime subscription so I don't have to worry about a price increase.
