Re: Fred Hoiberg Ain't Gonna Get Paid $4-5M
That gets us maybe 200k.
For starters, we could cut his pay in half.

I find the lack of knowledge in this thread remarkable....Archie Miller would look seriously at this job in a heart beat. Last I checked his salary was $650k a year. He could quadruple that here. There are a hell of a lot of really good coaches who I would hope to God JP would reach out to with a $2-$3 mil a year offer. Brad Underwood at SFA is a really good coach dude makes $350k a year. Jerod Haase won't be at UAB in two years, he's young, a rising star of sorts and just kicked our *** last I checked. He makes about $500k a year. Heck Chris Mack at Xavier would make a great hire IMO. Guy can recruit. He makes around $1 mil a year.
as for Hornacek..yea might be a long shot but he's gone after next year maybe sooner. He won't get another NBA HC gig so he's either relegated as an asst. in the NBA or goes to college or just retires.
You take a look at some of the salaries I just mentioned and you actually think that TJ will be the HC of a top 15 program making more than most of them at age 37 with ZERO experience as a HC? If true, JP has completely packed it in and is just coasting or has another job or career lined up himself. I think JP learned his lesson as to what happens when u hire your BFFs to run a major program(CPR) it gets increasingly more difficult to fire your BFF and things go to pot.
Aint Happening.
edit: Archie was extended thru 2022, so his new salary might make it tough to buyout. That's the other problem in all this, whoever we go get we are going to have to pony up to buyout the contract and buyout CPR and all the staff contract next season too. So my entire post was for naught as we simply don't have the money to do both. TJ it is for $600k a year.
If you are actually making the argument that there is better value than Fred on the market right now and we should let him go, you have lost your marbles. Fred is valuable to us. PERIOD. The fact is he needs to get a hard offer from JP and extend as far as this university can pony up.
Yes they would.Makes perfect sense. Other college teams wouldn't pay him 4 million but we would because hes worth it to us
I think he was talking about who we could get if Fred decides to leave.

No one does (know) ..we're just freaking out right now.
No I wasnt. Was respending to those who think we can't go get a mid major coach. I want Fred to stay.

He should be paid "what he is worth to us"? What does that even mean? This is delusional fanboy talk if I have ever seen it. Fred gunna get paid if he stays or goes, I wouldn't worry about his compensation.

Maybe you should check your facts before telling someone else to check again. If you google "Archie Miller salary", you'll find he's right. Archie makes $652,049. If Fred goes, Archie is the guy I want to take over.1st bold: Check again
2nd bold: I have heard absolutely ZERO buzz about Jerod Haase from anyone other than delusional ISU fan that is incapable of any kind of total picture retrospective view or any kind of ability to look forward more than one possession.

You guys are all assuming that these mid-major coaches would want to come here so if it doesn't happen, it must be that JP didn't try or is going with status quo. Nevermind they may not want to come here. Just jump to the negative conclusion.
Whoever JP hires, it will be the coach he thinks is the best for ISU. The dude is committed to ISU. He isn't going to hire or not hire anyone to prove a point, for loyalty, etc. He is going to hire the best candidate he can and support them however he can so they can be successful. That has been his M.O. from day one.
