WWJD- What Will Jamie Do?

Lay off the drugs.

It all goes together though. We get Big Monday games and GameDay because of Hoiberg. We won't get that with most other coaches.

Most likely without Hoiberg, we'll be at the level of Oklahoma State, Iowa, Kansas State, etc.

In your case some drugs may be in order.

How many Big Monday games did we have in Fred's first year? Second year? We have Big Monday games because we became consistently good under Hoiberg, leading to high external expectations, plus the rebirth of a great home environment. Any coach that wins here at the same level will see the same, if not more due to the program having greater recent success than what Hoiberg walked into.

You think iowa is on the level of osu and ksu?

The last two years we've probably had the most exposure we've ever had and yet currently we have some of the worst HS recruiting that I can recall.

Exposure doesn't equal recruiting success apparently

No, we get Big Monday games because we're ******* good. With or without Hoiberg this year, we'll get the max 4 Big Monday games.

The past 1-2 years of Fred to the NBA rumors has damaged recruiting and won't be fixed if he stays unless there is a huge NBA buyout and verbal commitment to stay put for at least the next 4 years.

Transfer recruiting will likely take a significant hit if Hoiberg leaves and Matt A gone.

But it's hard to worry about HS recruiting too much when we haven't gotten a significant HS recruit since Morris and Thomas in June (?) 2012.

So you don't feel Noskowiak was a significant get?

Wrong. For the most part the NCAA committee awards teams based on performance, not how many stories ESPN runs on them.

The upside to being a media darling is that it opens recruiting doors that otherwise may not be there. Unfortunately we missed that opportunity because Fred & Matt put all their eggs in the RV/Diallo baskets after not offering any long term commitments as to Fred's NBA timetable.

You are so far off base its not even funny. You make it seem like the selection committee has their TI-89 graphing calculators out and making sure that every pick and move is a calculated approach. If you believe that, you are incorrect. Why did UCLA get in the tourney last year? It wasn't because they were actually a great team and the tourney selection team saw that. They are UCLA, and the brand alone brings them to the table. We have a brand as well, and we will lose that brand if Hoiberg leaves.

Exactly. Everyone who thinks Iowa State Basketball can be what it was without Hoiberg has either got some serious over confidence or isn't really in touch with reality.

Hoiberg put us back on the map. He knows this and that's why the decision is going to be a tough one for him. He cares about us, but at the same time he knows he's worth more.

All we can do is offer him $4-5 million per year and extend his NBA buyout to $4-5 million and just hope that he bites and recommits.

Plus or minus one seed but it's not a significant factor. UCLA was very close either way and in hindsight a very good choice considering they made it to the Sweet 16.

I don't buy your argument but at least use a better example of a team not deserving of a NCAA birth than one that made it as far as Fred did with his best team.

Lol, you remain a ray of sunshine. Than goodness you're here to keep us grounded.

Ucla made it to the 16's because of controversial call, and us ******** the bed. Good for them, they took advantage. They weren't a good team.

I'm taking this as a compliment regardless of your feeling toward my UCLA example :jimlad:
