WWJD- What Will Jamie Do?

But as an AD wouldnt you like to be able to say we maxed out all assets that we could offer a basketball coach and that wasnt what our coach wanted but i gave it my all even though i knew what our current coach wanted to do but i still offered....did everything i could to change his mind including asking our biggest donors to go all in for the better of the program and he still said no. I would much rather hear that than well i knew he wasnt gonna stay so i didnt bother.

Pollard has said repeatedly that they have given Hoiberg everything he needs to keep him here. If he goes to the NBA, it has NOTHING to do with what Pollard has or hasn't given him.

I don't want Fred to go, but you have to admit the timing is freaking right to get Hornacek. Don't blow this Jamie. If I hear he wasn't even contacted, I will riot.

If I hear that he wasn't even contacted in favor of TJ, and yet a letter about renewing season tickets arrived yesterday, I might lose my mind.

It's still an anything could happen environment, and TJ might be an awesome head coach if given the opportunity, but nobody has been in a real hurry to hire the man. Hornacek at least sounds like a fun and winning option.

If this is true, I take back any negative comment I made about the Washington coach. I guess there are a lot of people that knew what was going on months ago.

Nothing against TJ, but I was hoping that Fred had brought the program along to the point that we no longer have to hire assistants. Yes, Fred had never coached, but the program was almost dead when he arrived. We had nothing to lose and it payed off. Evidently for a few years anyway.

I don't get the negative connotation with hiring assistant coaches. Florida just hired an assistant and their program is above ours. UConn hired Kevin Ollie and won a national title 2 years later. If not a proven assistant coach, then who? A mid-major head coach? That worked out great the last time. Head coaching experience is completely over rated. I would think Hoiberg showed everybody that.

I got a letter yesterday from the AD that essentially said, "Don't even start to think that you might be able to get additional season tickets next year." Strange timing.

Jamie has hired 2 head football coaches and 2 head men's basketball coaches at ISU. Only one of those has a winning record. A .250 batting average for an athletic director is pretty bad. If Fred does leave, he really needs to get this pick right.

If Fred leaves, JP better follow him out the door.

Florida did not hire an assistant. Mike White was the head coach at La Tech

How does that make things better?

JP refuses to try and pony up and pay fred. He won't get a coach worth anything if continues to pay the lowest in Big 12. Even if TJ were to has great success he will leave to as JP won't pay to keep a coach.

Thats all id ask for on JPs end then.

That is BS. Fred is the 8th highest paid coach in the Big 12. There is no way Fred should be 8th. JP needed to try.

This year. He has a contract (which he just signed a year ago) that makes him a Top 15 paid coach nationally.

In 5 years that contract would put him in the top 15 nationally based on 2014 numbers. Based on changes and raises, he has already fallen out of that top 15. Marshall is getting 3 mill at WSU, Freds contract topped out of 2.6.

His 10 year 26 million dollar contract is longer than, and worth more than others.
