WWJD- What Will Jamie Do?

It's ALWAYS partly about the money. If the Bulls said to Fred, "With the Thibs buy out, we can only offer you $1.5m" he would tell them to take a hike.

Fred is human just like all of us. He has human emotions such as fear, greed, pride, ego, love for family, etc. Like anyone, he wants to maximize his income for himself and his family, albeit on a different scale than most are able to relate to.

I certainly don't fault Fred for wanting to negotiate a higher salary. But I will be a little disappointed if we don't at least try to up our ante.

That's not to say there aren't MANY other reasons why Fred may prefer the NBA game.

Be ****** off, I don't care. But why come on here and call out JP?

You don't have to be happy, but you do have to accept it

Because if JP truly represents the best interests of Iowa State Athletics, he should be doing absolutely everything possible to keep Fred at ISU. Because when Fred leaves no one will want to coach here except first year guys. It will be like dropping a nuke on ISU basketball. Any coach will think "why should I coach there if their own local legend doesn't even want to be there with a top 5 team"

I have full confidence in JP. Not sure why so many are hating on him... he has one of the hardest AD jobs in Power 5 athletics.

Unless JP can promote the program to NBA status, I'm afraid he is out of bullets.

Then don't tell me its not about the money.

I think the point he is making is that money is not the main concern. And money being equal Fred wants to go to the NBA. Obviously he is still going to try and get a pay raise when moving to the NBA but that is not his main driving factor for the transition.

Well said, although there's probably no use trying to explain it.

Iowa State basketball does not equal Iowa State football. You can win consistently here in basketball ( good facilities, great fan support, etc.)

I think you're overreacting a tad.

Well then he killed ISU basketball.

There are now reports that several starters are wavering.

I cant imagine this being the case if Fred is doing this the right way. If hes not then god help us all.

Would you take a job where the guy that supposedly loves that job more then anyone else was in a hurry to get away from?

I know many think I am crazy and starting fires, but this is coming from solid sources.

If this is true, Blums BS that it is best for Fred to leave now is completely false and this year would be worse than next year as we would have a depleted roster.

In a hurry? He has spent a large chunk of his adult life in the NBA and loves that also. Him wanting to coach in the NBA has more to do with him wanting to coach at the highest level than anything to do with Iowa State. I don't think anyone will convince you though.

Don't jump.

I think Nazty already did...

This whole thing is about being selfish. He is leaving his team, university, and the isu fanbase to coah in the nba. this isn't about money and his family, they have enough. if it was about his family he would stay here per his quotes about having it so nice here wiht most of his family around ames. it is about him, nobody else. this will blow up the bb program and sort of become ironic...transfer u may be bit by the same hand it fed from. transfers. just crazy. i would rather he send a press release and not even have a press conference. i don't want to hear about how difficult it was, how special ames and isu is, how great the fans are... just have someone type and send it out.

Maybe Otz is the next Ben Jacobsen. Maybe Otz is the next Brad Stevens. Both assistants who were hired from within after the head coach left. And Archie Miller was an assistant before being hired as HC of Dayton.

Mid-major schools. Iowa State is a Basketball School in the Big 12 Conference.
