WWJD- What Will Jamie Do?

That is BS. Fred is the 8th highest paid coach in the Big 12. There is no way Fred should be 8th. JP needed to try.

Seriously. There is not a whole lot of money difference between Fred and many of those coaches ahead of him. And if Fred would meet all the bonuses within the contract Fred would actually make more than many of those coaches ahead of him. Plus Fred does not have the coaching longevity that many of those coaches have. Bob Huggins has been a head coach for about 30 years. Rick Barnes is almost approaching 40 years.

At this point it is less about the money and more about what Fred wants to do. Remember that Fred only has a buyout of $500k for an NBA job. That is an extremely low buyout. And was obviously something Fred desired. That right there shows that Fred was planning on leaving ISU for the NBA at some point.

The signs have all been there that Fred was eventually going to the NBA. Pollard's statements on the Tailgate Tour now appear to have been calculated. Perhaps Fred having the heart operation accelerated Fred's desire to go to the NBA now, rather than later. Bottom line is that we should respect his decision. It is his life. It is his career.

I get that ISU isn't flush with cash, but if Wichita can pay 3 million, why can't ISU get close to that?

We absolutely can. If Fred were to stay, he would sign a new contract that gets him close to that. That's not why he may be leaving. (I feel like this has been answered before...)

Well if we had the Koch Bros. pumping money in to the school and no football coaches to pay we could probably offer Fred 10 million a year.

Now I feel like you don't know how to use the internet which is even more disturbing.

I don't have to respect it. I don't understand those that are just fine with JP and Fred giving up on a top 5 roster and throwing this season away. Everyone here wanted a final four, but now the Fred apologists are pretending like it is just fine that we throw away the best chance we are going to have for a while.

So you prefer Fred leave the cupboard empty before bolting?

The term for what you seem to be lacking is "perspective". Or you are just trolling.

Actually, I think it's the latter.

I would rather get to the Final Four this year miss the postseaon tournament the next year than have a 7 seed this year with an underachieving new coach and the NIT the next while rebuilding, because a new coach isn't going to drastically improve 2016-17 by being here 1 year earlier.

What should we do?
Grab our pitchforks? Demand Fred stay?

This isn't communist Russia.

Of course its about money (at least partly). Or Fred wouldn't have gone to the well 2 years ago. And last year. So its a little bit about money. If we offered him $8 mil per year, you don't think he'd consider staying?

That is a false choice because it isn't realistic.

His dream is to coach in the NBA. Is that so hard to comprehend? no more kissing the butts of 18/19 year olds (and their parents) as well as babysitting them whle in school (guessing he got his share of that this past year). He already coaches the game like an NBA coach, he may not want to coach for many more years given his health condition so he's less prone to the, "there's always next year" talk.

This isn't about money...at least today...at this point.

No, I just don't have to be happy about it like everyone is demanding that I be.

Be ****** off, I don't care. But why come on here and call out JP?

You don't have to be happy, but you do have to accept it
