My problem is I'm getting to the point where I no longer care. That's worse for this program than passionate that want a new coach. i am getting to the point where I won't make time for Cyclone football anymore.

After this game I wouldn't fire him. Everyone would lose to OU if they were the ISU coach.

If he loses to Kansas in the same fashion, then I would fire him.

No, I think as far as FB goes JP understands this process will take some time and right now BB is helping buy that time. I think CPR brings in a new DC (Wally will retire) after this season and we see some improvement there just like we have on offense. At least, I hope so.

The offense has improved to look average at times.

It doesn't matter who coaches the D if the talent isn't there, especially up front.

Wally's done well with not much to work with, peaking with an average defense in 2012.

It will take time, though.

If the coaching staff resigned today, and we replaced them with really good coaches tomorrow, we would not see very much improvement until the new staff could bring in solid D-1 talent.

I feel terrible writing that, but it seems clear.

There isn't exactly a large amount of solid D-1 talent after 6 years.
I give him next year, only because it's when these 'young talented players' should be able to put together a few wins by then.

I put he should get 2015 just because of the buyout. If it wasn't for that I'd probably say fire him at the end of this season.

He's got to make a bowl next season though.

Yeah...overall he's a complete failure at coaching hires. Hoiberg's his greatest success. And then XC. And volleyball. But thats absolutely it.

You believe Pollard is the problem. I believe Iowa State is the problem. . . .

Before giving him one more year we must ask ourselves- do we really expect to be good next year if we give him one more year?

Here's some more reality. If ISU were playing Iowa's schedule right now, we'd be 6-2, possibly even 7-1, and everyone would be freaking out that we're going to lose Rhoads. The answer isn't firing Rhoads. That only sets the program back another 5 years. The answer is for ISU to keep supporting him as much as possible and giving him everything he needs to keep building this program.

This argument only looks OK if ISU is losing by one score to decent teams instead of getting rolled. Otherwise it's tired and borderline stupid. They might be something like .500, but they're not consistent enough from game to game for me to think they'd be a whole lot better. Also, with a better record and weaker schedule, they're still not good.

Give Iowa credit- they have systems thst they stick with and are typically real fundamental. Those things lead to room for mprovement, and it looks like they are.

Being in a power 5 conference and with the renovations and the support this fan base puts in even though we suck, jeez there has got to be an up n comer chomping at the bit to get this opportunity to showcase his abilities and make at least 2 million in the process.

I recall thinking how impressive NDSU's Chris Klie???? was in his debut as a head coach last August. Only 10 starters back, a new QB, all new assistants, and the Bison came out of the gate and beat the tar out of the Cyclones. And Klie???? is an Iowa native, from Waterloo.

I like Klie too, and would like to get him. But I don't think beating the tar out of cyclones should be considered all that impressive!

Overall, Pollard is an elite AD. He brings in the money and improves facilities. But he has a very difficult time finding good coaches.

CPR is a proud, passionate, honest man, most of us believe (I think). What better personality type has a chance to sell ISU to prospective players? Football success hangs on recruiting ability, which is the responsibility of coaches, not JP. All he can do is provide the coaches with the resources and hope they can do the selling job.

My worry is the coaching-recruiting job is beyond almost every coach in this country. ISU is a severely damaged commodity - location and no tradition. Who but a coach with a sterling national reputation has a chance here in today's college football landscape? The only coach who has a chance to be successful here won't come here. (We're not going to get a coach who leads a top 10 program.)

Iowa State is caught in a Catch-22 (imo).

Why prolong this misery on small hope? Once there's a more than even odds chance that PR will not survive 2015, it's time to pull the trigger. As I read it (perhaps between the lines a bit), almost 50 percent of this poll's responses say "Yah, let's give him on more chance. He may pull it out, but its likely we'll fire him next year."

Ultimately, it is more counter productive to let a hot seat coach limp through another season than it is to start over. I have seen nothing from PR to indicate that next year will be any better.

I agree. There is no reasonable person that can look at ISU's performances this year and imagine that we'd clearly be 6-2 in the Big 10. That's red roses best case dreaming.

Is NDSU still top ranked, or has it faltered? I don't have a clue how the Bison have done since leaving Ames. I'll look it up right now. Let's see . . . 9-0 heading into Saturday's game at UNI. Interesting. Doesn't mean Klie???? would have any interest in ISU, of course.

Fake punt was the perfect call. Executed perfectly, except for the easy catch............which was muffed. I guess that is Rhoads' fault for calling the perfect play. Qujuan Floyd blew it. But he is human. Get over it.

As far as the Defense. We were terrible. Robby Garcia did not play. Jensen played a little bit. Miller now out for the season on what looked like a chop block. Terrible no call IMO. Nigel Tribune did not play.

On offense, we were terrible as well. Sam was off target. And the receivers could not catch it when he was on target. Play calling of trying to establish the run when we got the turnover at mid-field was a head scratcher.

The team needs to get their act together for Kansas.

Still undefeated

I just want a coach that can win in the conference. PR isn't the guy anymore. Shiny new stadium addition, new coach. maybe it will be like a restart button. We can only hope.

A head coach is the CEO of the football program. It is his responsibility to hire the people to make the program successful. He needs to analyze the state of the team and make the decisions going forward. This was done last year on the offensive side of the ball. We have seen improved performance. Defensive changes have to be made, we have not improved on this side of the ball and it is bringing the whole program down very quickly. God bless Wally but he needs to be sent to retirement. Time for some new blood defensively, the program requires it from our CEO.

I hate these threads. I don't want to talk about tearing apart our team, especially in the middle of a season.
