Would you fire Paul Rhoads?

I'm in the camp that next year needs to be a bowl year or it's time for a HC change. Not from missing bowls the past two years but from not being competitive unless we're playing scrub teams from minor conferences or KU.
I want to keep Mangino and our weapons at WR around together for another season. I think because of WB's age and the complete collapse of the D this year and in spots last year we probably need a change at DC, possibly CPR as DC to just lay all the chips down.

Remember in all the NBA draft talks when people trot out nonsense that it's better to be undrafted than be a second round pick with no guaranteed contract?
Now remember all the coaching threads where people point out that an AD is less patient with some other guy than a guy he picked.
A second round NBA draft choice has an advantage over an undrafted free agent for this exact same reason. Just wanted to post this for the next time we have a player on the edge of the second round of the NBA draft. I've seen countless players who don't deserve an NBA roster spot hang on for 2-3 years out of a GM's pride, sometimes they use that 2-3 years of undeserved time and sometimes they don't, but it's the exact same situation as an AD wanting his coaching hire to work and being more patient than with some other AD's hire.

I don't get this. Name me one person who didn't think the Chizik hire was the biggest hire in ISU history? As far as i remember, most people were prety happy with the Rhoads hire as well. Plus, Rhoads really looked like the right guy off the bat, most people were pretty happy with the way things were going, me included.
Not quite sure the direction I would go, but another, "Top name" in football, with even mild success isn't going to stick around at ISU for more than a couple years, then move on to their next big thing. Chizik was a great hire, good enough so, that Auburn was willing to take him from us, even with poor results. Rhoads, imo, was a damage control hire. Pollard knew we had to try to get some stability. We couldn't be running out every 2 or 3 years to hire a new head coach. We needed to find someone with ties to ISU, who wouldn't just run for cash, who had at least a little soft spot in their heart for ISU.
I have to say, I'd probably be happier with JP picking the next football coach over anyone on this board and that includes me. There is a reason he's AD at this school and we are not. It amazes me, even with our football history, that everyone acts like we can just wave the flag and all these top name coaches will come running to ISU.
I just don't get the JP hate that goes on on this board. What has happened at ISU with facilities, excitement, that isn't just by chance. It may not be translating into wins and losses in football, but ask anyone who was a fan in the 80s and 90s if they ever imagined you see the changes made in the facilities and fans at ISU. If they say they saw this kind of stuff happening, they are liars.
Hell, when I was in school in the early 90s, i was pretty sure it was only a matter of time before we dropped down to what was then, 1AA. No fans, no facilities and crappy football. Granted, we've still got the crappy football, but if you can't see the good JP has brought to this program, then there really is no pleasing a lot of you.
If you can't learn to spell his name after 6 years how can we expect him to turn around one of the worst football programs in the history of college football in 6 years?
I'll learn to spell his name when he learns to get more than 3 conference wins in a year.

There's got to be a decent coach Smith, or Jones out there somewhere. If he's not decent, at least MOST on this site will be able to spell his name right after 3-4 years. Probably.
I voted for next year hot seat. I imagine my idea of what that make or break results need to be is different than some. I just need to see improvement not an arbitrary threshold of wins.
I wonder if Duke fans take the time to write Krzyzewski or if they just go with "Coach K."
I believe everyone spells it out in full. They are some smart ****ers over at Duke.
