It hurts a ton because we had such hopes for these teams and because the teams are filled with such good people.
The current pain is something we feel as the programs are on the ascent. It is better than the numbness of not even being in the tournament and not even having high aspirations.
The pain is lessened a bit by knowing that we aren't going to come crashing down next year. There is plenty of good reason to be hopeful for next year in MBB, WBB, and Wrestling.
In the words of our fearless leader @ChrisMWilliams , "We aren't Cyclone fans because it's easy. We are Cyclone fans because it's Awesome!"
Go Cyclones!
My wife cried after that game saying: "No, No, No!" and still gets mad at me if I bring up that game or mention Hampton at all. When we lost to Hampton, I was pissed off until May.
Of 2013.
Not even close. Sports can bring you to your knees. This weekend sucked and if there have been worse doesn't change that.
The higher the level of achievement, the harder the end.
How can this be the worst weekend? Both teams in the NCAA. You must have only become a fan this year.Carr loss caps it for me.
Note: I'm not bagging on any athlete or team.
That’s life. Highs seem higher after lows. Lows seem lower after highs. This weekend sucked and if there have been worse doesn't change that.
The higher the level of achievement, the harder the end.
Eek. Putting it that way is depressing.I was like the calendar year 2003 for ISU sports except it all happened in one weekend
those single results were worse than this weekends multiple results, at least in the minds for many of us who have been around awhileSeems like a lot of people missed this point. I'm not talking one basketball game. I'm talking a weekend of ****** results.
Stop bringing perspective into this! You're ruining it for the rest of us!That’s life. Highs seem higher after lows. Lows seem lower after highs.
Hey,even though his team, which is pretty good, lost - Hakeem looked good yesterday and the St. Louis roster abounds with Cyclones. Chin up.Eek. Putting it that way is depressing.
This weekend is a bummer for certain, but I'm not sure it's as bad as 2003 even as a condensed version.
The women’s gold team has an 18 stroke lead on the nearest competitor in their event this weekend. We are a school that only cares about women’s golf, right?
Yes! I was trying to remember the really bad weekend from earlier in the year, and that was it. R-O-C-K <> B-O-T-T-O-M on the Cyclones Emotions-Meter. I had already blocked that weekend out of my mind apparently. This weekend and the weekend that Purdy was hurt come to mind…
