Will the BIG10 Reverse Their Decision?

I find all these Big Ten fans screaming for answers to be really puzzling. Because they just got it in that letter, which breaks exactly zero news. It's essentially a restatement of everything we all knew might be a possibility for months.

You can agree or disagree with whether they should play (or we shouldn't) but there's no mystery at all about the decisions themselves. So the FOIA requests and demands for answers don't make much sense to me.

I think its fair, initially, we were told Nebby and Iowa were the only ones who "voted" to play. Then this week, we heard from Penn St and Minnesota AD's that there wasn't really a vote. It was more of a consensus they came to after a discussion. That's kind of just an argument of semantics but they weren't totally transparent and the fact that those two schools came up as the only ones who wanted to play, when we know that wasn't true muddied up the waters. I'm glad they issued a statement. I think its fair to respect their decision but it's also fair to say they botched this entire thing. The people with the most questions were people within that league, that's not a good show of unity, especially looks bad for their leadership. Their biggest mistake was probably just their timing. Had they waited, like they should have, it likely wouldn't have turned in to the soap opera we're seeing. Their arrogance couldn't allow that.

To be clear, I'm not defending the Big Ten here. This is a beautiful disaster and I'm enjoying every minute of it. ;)

Your point about whether there was actually a vote or not is valid, and I forgot about that. But "how" they decided is a relatively minor governance question. They did, and whether people choose to agree there are plenty of legitimate reasons about why they made their choice. I think most of this is people just thrashing around with frustration.

And their choice may end proving the correct one in the long run. Who the hell knows?

And its honestly arguable that its the big12\acc\sec that have been more inconsistent about this in their messaging. By a lot of the things they were on-record saying months ago, they'd be making the exact same decision as the big 10. Theyve just moved the goalposts.

It must be a glitch because I was replying to someone calling efforts to fight the outbreak "quitters".
I’m pretty sure it must be a glitch, because that’s not what I said.

Don’t put your own meanings on my words.

Bigots do that kind of thing, and I don’t work or play well with bigots.

Except that's exactly what you said.

Anyone who is taking erring on the side of caution in the face of uncertainty but grave potential harm is "quitting", "giving up" and "hiding".

Yeah, that kind of dumbass logic is why we are here right now.

I’m kinda confused about the whole point of this.

Because “months ago”, nobody had enough data points on anything to make an informed decision about anything.

Not really. The basics of this were known quite a long time ago, and if anything things have only gotten worse in the assessment as we have gained more knowledge of health issues for those who 'recover'. Its why a lot of us made peace with no football a long time ago as well. Months ago they were able to say 'if the situation is X, the result would be Y'. Now, the situation is X (or worse), but those leaders in the big12\SEC are now inconsistent with their own words because it financially suits them to, while simultaneously criticizing the big 10\p12 for doing those exact things most agreed would be the result.
