Wigginton declaring for NBA Draft, not hiring agent

Monte decided quickly to return in part because he was injured and everyone knew that, he would have returned prob anyway but had he not been hurt it likely would have dragged out longer.

It is clear as day that LW ultimate goal in life is to play in NBA, he’s said that since Oak Hill.

I can’t imagine leaving ISU when odds of god no straight G league are high.

Iowa State doesn’t make the NCAA Tournament without Lindell.

I think our chances take a hit, but the sum of all parts can still be much better than we were last year, and we weren't as horrible as our record indicated. If you adjust for the injuries, we would have been very close to the NIT. That means you're within striking distance of the dance.

Monte decided pretty quickly though. He never publicly said he was looking at leaving early and announced he’d be back in early April. If Monte had been really serious about leaving he would have announced he was going into the draft and waited to see what workouts he could get. It’s not like in early April he was told that no teams were interested in him working out. I suspect that montes decision was based some on his injury and some on the fact that he got along with prohm.

Monte was considering testing the NBA waters after his Junior year but had his shoulder injury late in the year that really affected the end of the season. I think that was the major factor for him to come back to Ames. We should also remember that Monte's pro potential isn't as high as Lindell's as evidenced by his prep ranking size and questions about hi resulted that Monte was a late second round selection after his senior year.

Every time I open this thread, I lose a little more faith in my fellow Cyclone fans. Whether or not he stays or goes, there are some ridiculous opinions out there, and a lot of posters acting like real jerks.
I choose to believe that the vast majority of Cyclones fans wish Lindell the absolute best. I know I do. I hope he gets the NBA career he wants.

Disagree. Especially, if we can add someone immediately.

It is still possible but becomes a lot more difficult and there isn't anyone to add at this point that would be a good replacement. Best possible replacement would be AJ Green but even he wouldn't be a freshman wigginton.

Agreed, but we've also added a boatload more talent and depth going into this season. Wigginton coming back would make us more of a threat come March.

Without Lindell Iowa State goes from NCAA lock to Bubble. If Babb is long-term hurt in addition to Lindell leaving, then NIT bubble. If we get bit by injuries and suspensions like last year in addition to Lindell leaving, it won't be pretty.

Needless to say, I would love to see Lindell play for Iowa State at least one more year. The dude is fun to watch and I think we have a breakout year if he returns to Ames.

A little premature.

The chances likely go down but not going to just outright say they won't make it.
Is it premature? It isn’t even guaranteed with Wigginton back. We have a great shot if he’s back but if he isn’t, I think we lack shooting and that go to guy offensively. That could be Shayok and/or THT but we don’t know for sure. We know for sure Wigginton is that guy.

I’m not saying Iowa State CAN’T make it without Lindell, I’m just predicting that we won’t.

If you think it’s premature for him to say that we still have a chance if Lindell leaves, then it is also premature of you to say we don’t make the tournament if he leaves. You were the one absolutely stating it, not him.

It was never guaranteed with Wigginton back, IMO. You never know what kind of team you have when you have this many newcomers and/or returning players who have never proven they can win at this level.

Which is the exact reason it's premature.
