Wide Receiver Hype

A caller brought this up on the reaction show, but I would like to see more short dump passes to Montgomery. Our receivers are still really really good (despite what some of you think), and by opening up another threat with Montgomery down low, that can only help open up our receivers down field. After going back and watching the highlights, some of the best plays were Montgomery's receiving plays. And there were numerous times where he seemed open in the middle of the field and Park chose to through it deep instead with a 50/50 chance of connecting.

The pass that was intercepted was supposed to be a short dump pass to Montgomery

Yeah there where a few drops... but Iowa could of beat us by a ton if they had a QB... couldn't cover anyone

Stanley really juiced those deep throws where a lot of B12 QBs would have put more loft on them and given their receivers more of a chance.

They ended up scoring on the drives they missed guys wide open anyway. Score wouldn't have been much different.

Our defense is not good. That is my two cents.

Exactly. We really can't play defense like this the rest of the year. The defense will be a real struggle this year IMO.

IMO good play call on d - they dropped the d lineman back which I assume they do very rarely and it paid off.

What did you disagree with that the coaches did?
Several blown coverages.

With 3 mins left and up by seven offensive play calling went from attack to conservative knowing that the defense was getting gashed.

Players out of position several times on defense that let the RB break contain.

From what I saw today, our linebackers and secondary need to make some big steps if they want to compete in Big 12 play. They couldn't bring down Wadley on the first attempt and then couldn't cover the short pass. What also bothers me is that Willie Harvey, after playing great last week, got exposed multiple times today.

Imo it didn't really look like a called play for the d-lineman to drop. It looked like they ran a line stunt, we picked it up and Hesse just made a good play to realize he wasn't going to get pressure and read the QB's eyes.

I think the WRs are very good, as they are hard to cover. The drops are very irritating, but everyone drops one once in awhile. It wouldn't be so bad, but Iowa's WR's played great including two hightlight type laying out TD catches.

The best basketball player of all time missed 26 potential game-winning shots.

And we had that many missed tackles on numerous plays during the game!

The big plays are great and everybody notices when we make them. The routine plays are what keep you in the game and everybody notices when we DON'T make them. Like tackles.

The coaches blew coverages and were out of position? Agree on the other but that's my only complaint.
