Why do old people

Our fans are great at being loud as **** when it really matters.

OP is right though, when we go on a run we get loud and when the opposing coach calls timeouts we get STOKED and go nuts, and then as soon as play begins again (this is where it bothers me a bit) the whole crowd immediately sits down unless it is the last minute or two of a close game. At least stand up and cheer until the other team scores or we do something bad. The cut in participation in the game is absolutely immediate when the ball is inbounded.

There is no stadium where coaches get more bang for their buck calling TO after a run than in Hilton.

That being said, our fans show up way better than almost all fanbases, almost never stay quiet in an important late game situation, and we cheer in support during a dry spell better than anyone IMO.

I hate this too and agree with the OP. This is when other teams make their run.

It sucks when students don't show up.

It also sucks when regular ticketholders sit down immediately after standing for a whole timeout.

Both of those things suck.

Us old people also realize that it's just a game. The course of human history is not going to change whether the Cyclones win or lose. Just keeping perspective.

Seriously? Just not even close and wrong....

Under 4 timeout is when we congregate on the concourse... under 1 minute is when we actually leave the arena.

I would prefer if you left under the 2 minute mark, not 1. I dont know if you crawl to your vehicle or what, but I still have to wait for you to get out of the parking lot after I spend the added 178 seconds watching until the final buzzer. I thought you were in a hurry?

Kudos to the Hilton team for selecting "Turn Down For What?" as the under four minute timeout sound filler, its a banger that screams go crazy, but it got me wanting to know, To the late game concourse watchers... What exactly are you turning down for?

Does that excuse apply to student attendance as well?

Don't know, I'm not one of them.

BTW, when my wife and me attend an occasional game, we stay not only until the end of the game, but a little after because we know it's a long wait in line in the parking lot, and it's warm inside.

I suppose getting to the car early insures not missing the post-game interviews by John and Eric on the radio. I guess that could be considered a plus...maybe.

I will never understand why so many people leave early. A few, sure, but not droves. Cheering the win is a big part of the overall experience. And leaving when we are down by only a few points like against KU is insane.

No deal; the game is still in doubt at 2 minutes... I don't want to miss any of the action.

We are in a hurry, that is why we leave with 1 minute left. If we didn't we would be stuck leaving with people like you who stay to the end for some reason.

Sometimes, it seems that the start of a song quiets the crowd. Whereas if they just let the crowd go, the cheering might continue through the time out.

I love the last roar.

Yeah, takes people out of going crazy to clap in unison, then sit down when the music stops. I blame the music.

Ok, I'm old, but this tired response bothers me. The reason you stay to the end is because the game is not over. I'll bet you left The Avengers right before the final fight too.

Because we actually want to watch the game, and not block the view of anyone else! That, grasshopper, is what is known as manners. Try practicing some occasionally.

CAVEAT: I think it's great that the students want to stand the whole game. If I sat in that section I would stand also...it's kind of like a pre-recquisite. I don't think you can impose the manners rule on students standing in the student section, just as they can't impose the "stand for the entire game" rule on the donor sections. Fair is fair.

I wish they would enforce all those "No Standing in the Concourse" signs. Hilarious to see people 4 deep down there after the 4 minute timeout

Why back in our day, we didn't have any fancy Niangs or Ejims. We had Bryan Heger and Fallencheck and Uthoff .... AND WE LIKED IT....

Maybe the Ron Falenschek days because that means Johnny O. was here.
