Why didn't the Big 4 Classic work?

I will agree navigation between the East Village and downtown is trickier, but I don't feel that affects parking to the arena. Grand Avenue is the closest bridge, and this has been re-open since this summer.

Yes, the meter charge now on weekends. That said, I've gone to many, many events at WF since it opened. I can recall maybe...maybe once parking on-street where there is a meter. It just isn't necessary. There are numerous other options between ramps, flat lots, and streets without meters.

Where do you park where there isn’t a meter?

Also, it’s kind of a stretch to expect out of town people to know where there are and are not meters.

I also attend because for the last 4 years, I can get 3rd row, center court seats

I had a suspicion with your donation comments that you were probably had some kind of privileges like this. I was going to offer that you come and meet me with my cyclone gear on but I doubt you would want to hangout in the 300 level with us average folks.

I sit in the section with the private concession area and I miss way to much of any game when I try and buy a drink or get something to eat

First world problems. When I go back to the free prime rib buffet and Coach Snyders box in Manhattan I get super annoyed that I miss plays also.

I don't love being surrounded by crappy Iowa fans (much like yourself).

I've been at this thing every year with my Iowa State gear on, sat by rows of Iowa fans, and never had one incident. If you consider them annoying when cheering their team so be it.

Do you now have to feed the meters on weekends? Usually I'm at a hotel for HS tourneys so I just walked but may be heading down and just hitting up a few things.

Yes on Saturdays. I believe Sundays are still free. Also, they charge until 9pm (used to stop at 6 pm)

This may sound annoying to some (or counter-initiative to attracting people downtown) , but it has really worked as planned. It has freed up spots when you want to find on-street parking close to your destination....and you don't have to drive around the blocks several times looking for a spot. The timing forces downtown residents and workers into the ramps (or elsewhere) to find parking and in turns leaves spots open for patrons who are very willing to pay for a spot.nearer their destination.

I think it is safe to say that most cities with a pulse have gone down this route with meters.

I wish meters would have this stuff posted. Maybe they do now, but in the past, you "just had to know"

All kinds of on and off-street parking on the other side of the pedestrian bridge that crosses the DEs Moines River. (and it makes the journey more fun...especially if bringing kids to an event). (Robert D Ray Dr).

I believe a lot of Grand Ave bridge is city employee parking during the week, so no meters on a lot of it.

West of the arena, there are flat lots here and there for businesses that aren't open most weekends.

IF we are doing something before or after an event, we often just park in a ramp down by Court Avenue. (yes, you will have to pay)

To your point, yes it is more difficult if you are from out of town. I'll grant that.

Bridge is Embassy valet parking last I knew. It was when I stayed down there about a year and a half ago.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I get those seats because a friend of a friend of a friend works for someone who has access to those tickets.

I donate $500 per year to the Cyclone Club. I combine it with a $500 donation from a family member and we split basketball tickets in the 3rd row of the balcony and the 2nd from the top row in the balcony. The only reason why we have 3rd row balcony is because we've had season tickets for 15 years or so and steadily moved up during the dark days.

And again, you are NOT an Iowa State fan. Nothing you have ever posted here supports your insistence that you are a fan.

The bridges are now free parking, but big chunks of them are reserved. The Grand bridge has a big part reserved for city employees. Locust is closed. Walnut is all open and free, but even if you arrive at 6 on a week day, there might not be parking. Court is closed.

Newsflash everyone......................it doesnt matter how many tens of thousands of dollars youve spent on tickets, concessions, parking, books, tuition, merchandise, if you dont donate at least $500 bucks to park in C6 you arent really a true fan.
Creative interpretation. Also an inaccurate interpretation, but that hasn't stopped you so far.

I edited it a bit to help you understand it.
Again, you're welcome.

Grand should be open on weekends since city offices are closed.

Agreed.

A person really needs to expand their mind if they think a sea of parking leading to the front door of a building is a requirement to claim a place has superior available parking. Well....I guess it is OK for our Baby Boomer parents and grandparents, but the rest of should know better by now.
Oh, dear...was that an agist swipe at me? How very mature of you.

Sure, whatever you say bro, since you are the ultimate superfan none of us can even come close to your fandom. You are so triggered by every little thing I say that you dont even notice the 10 times that I praise ISU on here.

So enjoy your third row, ill enjoy my 300 section and my weekend watching some basketball while guys like you cry and moan about being too close to Iowa fans.

What interpretation? The guy said if you dont donate money to the university you arent a fan. What could be more straightforward than that?

Following this thread, a question that is personal, but I am just curious with the responses. Are you married? So it doesn't seem like a stalker question, I am. I would say you probably aren't from reading the last page or two. Doesn't matter, just curious.
