Who coulda been?

Allen Iverson is a good call, I remember watching him play when I was really small versus Michael Jordon. Sort of like the Young gun taking on the Crafty veteran scenario.

Shawn Kemp was by far my favorite player growing up and I would argue he shouldn't be included on this list. NBA finals with the Sonics, then on the All-Century team with the Cavs. Sure he fizzled as he got older, but his first 10 seasons were outstanding and he scored over 15,000 points. I'd say he did ok.

Icky Woods

Len Bias. I'm not even a Celtics fan and that one still bums me out.

Also, Jeff George. He just grew up a little too late. If he had been humbled a little bit sooner he could have been a Hall of Famer. He had an absolute cannon for an arm.

I can't believe no one has said Jason Berryman yet. That was the first name that came to my head. He would have been playing in the NFL right now if he'd had his head on straight.

That is the start of a good group. Yao Ming, Marcus Fizer, Len Bias, Greg Oden. I think Jay Williams of Duke who got in the motorcycle accident would have been an absolute star. I remember when he played with Duke and they were down 10 with a minute left and he single handedly brought them back to win in OT.
Jay Williams would have been a fringe All-star most years but not an All-NBA type performer. He was a great shooter but didn't have the quickness most top level PG's do.

Ken Griffey is a good one. He was the best in the game in his prime but then caught the injury bug. He could have been right there with Bonds (unjuiced as far as we know)

I would say Allen Iverson
Allen Iverson was one of the best players of the last 15 years and took a team to the finals by himself and even won a game literally by himself. Not sure why he is anywhere near this list.

This list is a little void of any specifics. Why not put every other high draft pick that didnt pan out on here. Is this just the ones you recall or just your sports watching lifetime?

Going with some other sports:

Andy Roddick
Michele Wie
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Freddy Adu
Bode Miller

Because he could have been so much better. He would have been a sure fire Hall of Famer and one of the greatest PG's to ever play the game had he not been so selfish and immature.

Mark (The Bird) Fidrych
Ken Griffey Jr.
Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, Cool Papa Bell

Speaking of Maurice Clarett, he lives in Omaha and I played basketball with him last week. Turns out he is a really nice guy, no joke.

this is true! He really has turned his life around, from what i heard. He is helping out with local youth programs.

Good picks. Jay Williams would have been great. As a Bulls fan that one really hurt.

I think my ultimate pick is Grant Hill, he was on his way to being one of the best small forwards of all time before he got hurt. Him and Tracy McGrady would have formed an amazing duo in Orlando if he hadn't gotten hurt.

Another great young small forward was Reggie Lewis. His death was a complete shock and tragedy. Really strange for it to happen to Boston as well considering Len Bias
