What did McKay d this time?

After all the crap we've had with McKay, I just find it shocking that some are actually criticizing Prohm. McKay is a basket case, and thankfully we only have 1-2 months left to deal with it.

Give me a break. Fred had similar drama with BDJ last year. McKay has a bad attitude and skipped class. He hasn't committed a crime or something where you can lay down a swift and clear punishment and move on.

He has zero depth and probably realizes that he needs to do everything possible to keep McKay for the post season.

His hands are pretty tied on this.

This.

If this is true, he may want to change the "death before dishonor" tag on his Twitter profile as that is about as cowardly and selfish statement that a member of a team can make...

To be clear I'm not sure if they were referring to yesterday or to the 2 game suspension. Apparently Jameel doesn't want to endanger his draft status by getting hurt. Him tweaking his knee apparently freaked him out about his future and at one time he wanted to shut it down and focus on preparing for the NBA.

I got a good chuckle out of it because it's an outlandish rumor if false and just as outlandish if true.

What did mckay do last year? I dont remember any issues which ultimately is my issue now. Why is he so terrible if he was fine last year?

Side note, why do many cyfan posters always have to find a player to hate? If you get mad at anyone get mad at the coach. Prohm even said, if something goes wrong, blame me. Yet people do get mad at coach and the reaction is consistently, "how dare you get mad at the coach, player x is terrible." So annoying.

The ball is in Jameels court. Either buy in or leave. Pretty simple. Not going to win a ******* contest with Prohm. He is Eustachy without the profanity.

I know you meant that in a positive way, but Prohm is way, way, way more the right coach for ISU than Eustachy was. We are blessed to have him.

This was going on after the KU game so that may be an old rumor than.. Be really disappointing if he revisited this attitude and way of thinking

Mckay is Royce. Except Royce was more talented and waited to be drafted before going off the deep end.

The thing is that McKay was an emotional flake last year and has been the entire time he's been here. The difference is that Fred and Prohm have different views as to what is acceptable for personal behavior.

edit. Forgot to add that while he was overly emotional at times last year he never pulled anything like this so that in itself is a big difference.

I'm looking for a silver lining in all of this. He's gonna be well rested for the home stretch and he should be incredibly motivated to impress the scouts on the biggest stage of all.

How about he rests up and impress the fans, the coach, his teammates......?

Good lord. The scouts know everything about a college player. They don't like flakiness

I think prohm just needs to learn how to coach the kid. Maybe call fred and ask for some advice. It just feels like a personality problem which is so annoying when talking in the grand scheme of things. I might change my mind if I knew what mckay did but that's the problem: I dont. I mean, it was clear last yeAr he was crazy but we got the good side last year and this year the whiny sulky bad side. So figure out how to channel the good side: the season is almost over.

Would Prohm have really risked losing last night just in order to give Jameel some rest?

So let's say TCU is within 2 or 3 points with a couple minutes left last night. Would Prohm have put Jameel in to try to secure the win, or risk losing just to give Jameel some rest?

Jameel was not going to play last night no matter what IMO. Prohm would have taken the loss instead of putting him in IMO. That tells me that Jameel wasn't just resting up for Monday. Because if Prohm would have taken a loss last night just to rest Jameel, that would be inexcusable IMO.

There is something more to this. Jameel isn't buying in yet and is still being selfish IMO, and Prohm is sending a message that he's in charge and Jameel will sit unless he's going to be a team guy.

And that's what bothers me about McKay's tweet last night saying it isn't a "me" problem, it's a "team" problem. I'm not sure how to read that, but I take it that he still doesn't get it at all. It sounds to me like it's definitely a "you" problem Jameel. It's not the team. You need to get your head out of your a** and start playing like you did last year again.

I saw that tweet and I am personally positive that wasn't what he was trying to say. He did not use the word "problem". He said "Not a ME thing it's a TEAM thing great WiN #CyclOneNation". I took that as very very positive, not negative. Communication between human beings is very very hard. especially on social media.

Prohm and Hoiberg do talk. pretty regularly from what I understand.

Exactly. He seemed to be saying that it's not about me; it's about the team.

That players only meeting that Naz called could have happened after McKay had an incident that resulted in him not playing.

In other words- McKay has another incident. Team informed that McKay will be punished. Naz calls meeting. Everybody now on board, but punishment stands.

Didn't it sound like the decision to not let him play was last minute? The did Mckay know before the game question?

Here's my thing. I want to give Prohm the benefit of the doubt, but I don't see how some of you are. Which one has proven themselves to us. Only one has and that is McKay. Yes McKay is a nutcase, but he was a nutcase last year too. He still was the Defensive Player of the Year. Now Prohm from what we have seen at Murray State is a good coach. I think he was probably the best option from outside the program. He still hasn't proven it to us yet. He has done some really good things, but also some poor things. Ever since the night he was suspended Mckay has seemed to have his head on straight. I know we talked about the one game tweet, but I have nothing to show me that he wasn't told change his attitude and that was him saying I know what I have to do and I'm going to do it.

Why does Prohm get the benefit of the doubt when McKay has proven himself more. It very well could be that McKay is being a problem, but why is that the assumption. I'll compare it to football. Rhoads proved himself to us the first couple years and therefore was given a lot of leeway. Prohm should have to do the same thing.

It's funny to see all of the people that weren't at Hilton saying Jameel had a ****** attitude at the game yesterday. Probably 5 times he stood up waving his arms to get the crowd involved. Chatted it up with teammates a lot, saw him say lots of encouraging things to Burton before & during the game. Don't judge him because he was sitting on the bench in some sort of improper manner.
