West Virginia Player Attacks Fan

You enter the field of play, anything that happens is your own damn fault.

I'm guessing Jamie is going to get to have a fun conversation with the conference on why our fans can't stay in designated seating areas.
That is what you'd like to think but the law doesn't allow recklessly dangerous behavior even if someone is where they shouldn't be. For example you can't set up deadly booby traps on your property to injure or kill trespassers. Well, you can but be prepared to face charges.

Man, I hope none of his professionally trained P5 athletes were endangered by 110-pound Suzy Sorority when she recklessly rushed the field with the intent to hurt them. o_O

Don’t kid yourself. Little Suzy sorority can do some damage to you in the right situation.

It is also worth pointing out that #31 from West Virginia, Sandwisch, was reportedly flipping off the student section during the game

Unless there were serious injuries let’s not play victim just because holgerson is a d-bag. Happy with the win, I’m fine with the storm. I’ll stay out of the he said she said stuff.

Holgerson complaining rushing the field is unprofessional while 75% of his team beelined it for the locker room before the final whistle sounded.

I am guessing they bee-lined it for the locker room because they saw the storm coming - smart move by them.

I'm all for storming but this is the risk you run - highly emotional situations where both fans and players can make bad decisions.

If the video on reddit I saw is the same one then its nothing. I looked back at the replay and the resolution was a bit better. Looks like that player is yelling at someone and a coach is pulling him back. No swinging or throwing a shoulder or anything. I'm sure a passing fan was talking sh!t.

I was watching from upper deck and clearly saw some fans being belligerent towards west virginia players. Then saw one player go after a fan who instigated it. A WVU manager or coach then forcefully pushed the WVU player towards the locker room. Our fans have to start acting like they've been here before. This isn't first or the biggest upset in college football. Heck, WVU was only a 5 point favorite in the game.

I'm just waiting for a student to almost die from being crushed up against that fence - that's what happened at wisconsin a few years back.

it's a little ridiculous when the entire upper deck student section heads to the hillside ready to rush the field - in the exact same spot where the visiting team has to cross to the lockeroom.

i have no issue with stupid college kids being stupid, that's what you do at that age. but the jack trice set up to me looks like a disaster waiting to happen....

Not that it makes it any more right or wrong for players to behave like that but to be fair I'm pretty sure he heard/saw a lot worse coming from the student section before he did that. Pretty sure some fans wouldn't say some of the things they do to players if they weren't safely separated from the field in the stands and hard to single out when the players have their backs turned to the stands most of the time.

As for rushing the field or court typically I am not a fan of it but don't have an issue if others want to do it in the right situations. Just knocking off a top 10 team when you are unranked and have the history we do in football is a good enough reason. Unless you are a handful of schools in football or basketball that are consistently a national title contender it's expected that field/court rushing is going to happen when a big upset happens. As long as the fans are safe and not provoking incidents when they do it other schools really have no reason to complain about it because their fans would likely do the same if the tables were turned. WV knew they were already lining up to storm the field and had already sent most of their players to the locker room so really it was only the staff and whatever players had to stay to finish out the final moments of the game that had to navigate through it.

The move to the hillside is actually genius from a pure rushing the field standpoint.

Maybe this is why the visiting team was always on the home side of the Jack so the road team is opposite the students? We have always wondered why we had it set up that way - mystery solved!

Just imagine if all the students were lined up like that as the visiting team enters the field. That would be sheer hell for any opposing team

I'll counter and say they were heading to the locker room early because they are a bunch of *******. To good to shake and congratulate ISU players.
