Maybe Chick-Fil-A can build where the old west Ames Wendy's is!
Chick-fil-a has the best, but Wendy's is a close second, on all chicken sandwiches.
It is closed for good. I know the franchise owners and they originally were going to build a new store out by the highway near West Towne Pub and the bowling alley but they trashed that idea. Apparently business has been shrinking for years and the new McDonalds was really digging into them as well.
West Ames area near HyVee has been in need for a huge renovation here lately. Nice to see McDonalds rebuilt, but with Wallabys moving and no WestCyde Wings, that area is moving downhill fast.

no chance
Get coal in your stocking? Quite the burst of negativity.
ha, nope. it's called being realistic. tell me how west ames makes perfect sense for a Chick Fil A. If Ames ever gets one it will be on Duff. It's called high traffic/easy access.
Nothing about Duff is easy access. Nothing. That is the worst road in Iowa.

You're right. West Ames makes way more sense.
Tell him it was shrinking because that Wendy's was an absolute dump and no one would go there anymore. A new one would do great on the West side.
I think there would be a decent chance that the owner would have tore it down and rebuilt it on that land but they don't own it. When the owner originally got into the business the first two stores he had were the two in Ames and he got them from the previous franchise owners. He was basically renting the land and the buildings for both stores on Lincoln Way. In the early 2000's he bought new land on Duff and moved the east Lincoln Way store and his plans were to eventually do the same on the west side. But like I said, sales have been dipping at the west store since the mid 2000's and after weighing the options he decided to just close shop and not build a new store. It's not like he's hurting for business since he owns Duff Ave, Marshalltown, and Clear Lake and I think he has partial ownership in the one in Newton.
