WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Interesting to look back & find when Bluder had previously played Baylor/Mulkey. Didi Richards seemed like a "before social media frenzy" AR).

Probably most Hawkeye "fans" don't even know (or care) that KM was the former coach.

I thought her crown and "double-double queen" schtick were cringey but now I hate her and want her to go away.
Iowa media has nothing to do with this.
Sadly it’s a national story.
I just cringed when Jill made the comment to invite iowa and credited them with good sportsmanship. Very tone deaf.
After the correct decision was made not to invite iowa I hoped everything would die out.
Right or wrong - Reese is not going to let that happen. I think she has some very valid points- but I think she may have pushed this a little too far, and may hurt her cause.
I just wish the focus could be on the game.

Edit - sorry, I thought I was responding to NWICY when he or she mentioned the iowa press (media)

We need to do something about the Iowa game next year from a ticket perspective. We technically have a sellout with the wnit double header back in the day. If we have a sellout next year because 40% of crowd is Iowa fans I may vomit in my seat.

if the A.D. is smart they will premium price it like they do for FB. won't affect us season ticket holders at all. Drake used to do it all the time for MBB not sure about WBB just can't remember haven't went down to that game for a while. Put a $15 or $20 price tag on that game make the hawks pay to get in.

Drake does it for WBB now; I've been to the Drake/ISU game in DSM, and the tickets always cost more than the rest of their non-conference games.

Is the Cy-Hawk game in Ames for WBB really going to fill Hilton? I am not sure this game will have the same interest for Hawk fans as football. It's just one of 30 some games. Been wondering a little about this regarding their game in Mpls next season and whether that would get an attendance bump from fans driving from Iowa or if a bump would be from Minnesota peeps wanting to see Clark. Either way it would be fun to see a big crowd in The Barn again even if it made it harder for me to grab a ticket. During COVID I haven't been to game at Hilton or Williams and hope to get back this next season. I haven't seen Hawks play in person since Gustafson vs Gophers (Gophers haven't been very good) and the ISU home game versus the Kathleen Doyle Hawks.

If a bunch of casual WBB fans want to fill Hilton I don't see that as a bad thing since we will also have a shot at impressing them with our young players. I'd rather see a full house of 14K than a crowd of 5K that's reported as 10K. 5000 or 6000 is great in WBB but a crowd over twice that is awesome.

I would go to the games in DM in the past but when they started raising the price for our game and you may end up in the middle of their fans I said no I will just watch on TV.

Big 12 stuff. Baylor's now added three from the portal.

They played last year without the transfer they thought would lead their team, Aijha Blackwell, and she's coming back for a extra year. If she's healthy with Littlepage-Buggs and other they might be pretty good. They also have a freshman Letycia Vasconcelos, 6'-7" post from Brazil via Florida HS. Could be interesting.

The gist of the DMR story since it is for subscribers only - Bluder should "find" a way to push one of her scholarship players out or ask them to go off scholarship so they can go after Aneesah Morrow, who is transferring out of DePaul. Also, they should come up with some NIL money to get Morrow.

This kind of thinking is nuts to me.

It's silly stuff. If she had openings it would be an attractive destination for a post but not seeing her actually "run off" anyone. For crying out loud, they are honoring a scholarship to a 2023 recruit that will never even be able to play for them.

Some of the gals could leave Iowa, maybe Goodman** or someone. It's the odd school that doesn't have someone transfer out after the season. However, Bluder hasn't exactly been a yuge player in the transfer recruiting. Only two reserves come to mine for me, Feuerbach and Molly Davis (might be missing someone, not a Hawk roster expert) . Granted Davis was a nice reserve piece at guard. If she does get an opening it will be a huge draw for a post transfer. A post would be stupid not to consider it with Jensen's coaching reputation and Clark at PG.

** Impressed me as a reserve to Czinano as a freshman but she's sort of just disappeared since she hurt her knee. I don't know much about the other gals that didn't make the rotation.

Stanford's Lauren Betts, former #1 recruit, entering the portal was the big talk of the day, obviously.

Saw someone on another board note that she's a HS classmate of Iowa's Addison O'Grady.

CC has fueled the Iowa fan base. They continually fill Carver so if ISU fans make up 9,000 it would be easy for the other 5,000 grand to be filled by Iowa fans.

Would be nuts to feel like we are on the road in our own building.

Damn. Just saw Iowa is pausing to try and figure out how to deal with demand for ticket sales next year. I might have to watch Gophers play Rutgers rather than Gophers play Iowa if Hawk fans can't get tickets at home they'll roadtrip to Mpls and hit Mall of America and all of the Mpls bars!

Iowa fans will easily pay that. We need to get the word out to the ISU fanbase that if you only go to one ISU wbb game this is it. We need to make sure it's more of 11,000 to 3,000 than 9.000 to 5,000.
