Oh boy. Brings back shades of Wisconsin telling them to pick a new W.
Similarities to others aside that's a pretty sick logo.
I understand the similarities but also understand that for similar mascots there are going to be similar looking logos. I remember the Coyotes called out the Timberwolves when they released their new logo because they thought it was too similar.
Also, high schools use collegiate and professional logos a lot. Mostly for secondary logos and what not, but this is not them buying rights to a logo, it just looks similar.
There's a limited amount of ways to make a picture of a wolf. They're probably all going to look similar when the colors are the same.
Agreed, any wolf logos are likely to share some similarities. The wolves in the Timberwolves and Iowa Wolves logos are also blue and grey compared to black and grey in the Waukee HS one and no green at all.
Yeah if I was at that high school or was a supporter of it I'd be psyched.
We were the wildcats and our fball team used the K State Logo for the first 2 years of my HS time, then modified it to be a "custom" logo, that was essentially a glorified version of the K-State one lol. Our basketball team used the Kentucky Wildcat logo on all of their basketball apparel and warm ups. I believe our actual HS logo was only used on letterheads and around campus.

So much better than Jaguars but they should have gone unique and been the “Miners” as a call to what that HS is built on top of.
Would’ve been nice to see a new HS actually use some of the towns history. I submitted the suggestion for the name of “Miners” due to the mining history in waukee, specially in that area of town.

"Wolverines" was actually a finalist for the Centennial nickname years ago. I preferred that to Jaguars myself but I understand the good citizens of Ankeny not wanting any more of that B1G stench around what with the Hawks already being in town.
There are significant differences in the logos
Minnesota Timberwolf: Peacefully howling at the moon
Iowa Twolf: Just kind of watching, lurking, chillin
Waukee Wolf: gonna ******* kill you
Cool logo, but damn the name of the HS is pretty weak.
i never understand this. I like the simple directional nomenclature. West, North, Central, etc. The random names like “Centennial”, “Prairie”, etc are for elementary schools.
