Vikings fans...

My faith in Cousins is admittedly dropping. If Cook goes down, the team is toast. I don't know what it is with him because he has a great arm, but there is a mental ceiling he keeps hitting.

And Cook is all but guaranteed to go down at least once a season. Poor guy just can't stay on the field, but when he does he's the man.

Then it’s a misfire by the front office. You don’t pay a QB that much guaranteed money to “keep it close” against good teams. I agree about the playoffs. I would be absolutely shocked if they won a game.
Totally agree. I'm just saying that's where this team is at. We don't really have a good win all year

I'm not sure what the Vikings do with him. Do you keep him around for high value knowing he's an obvious injury risk? Or do you burn a draft pick trying to replace him?

Mattison is good and doesn't require a change in style or game plan at all vs Cook. Picks need to go heavy OL. Would like a shifty slot guy too. Then gotta have the annual 1 or 2 on a CB.

..... My point was that I've heard from people connected with the Vikings that they should re-sign him and he should play the rest of his career in Minnesota. Assuming that's another 7-8 seasons.....

I wouldn't have a problem with re-signing Cousins, depending on the money. No more guaranteed crap, and he should be in the 15-20 range for all QB deals. Give him a three year deal unless somebody else could fall in their lap like Teddy. They'll obviously need somebody, Cousins or other, as they develop a new QB.

After watching the Rhodes abomination this year...they'd better address cornerback.

The Vikings need to address Q8 pretty soon too because Cousins, while he's "ok", is not the long term answer.

Seems reasonable. When cousins was a FA, the messaging was “he’s elite, just been the victim of a crappy organization in Washington.” Unfortunately, the Vikings got to be the team to spend $84m so the rest of the league could know that Cousins is just an ok QB. He’s upper half for sure, but he’s not elite. Yes, many of his issues are downstream of a crappy OL. But elite QBs don’t need perfect conditions to win games.

Good QBs are a limited commodity. If the Vikings don’t keep him, someone will take him. Hell, even Bradford got a $18m or so deal after he left MN and it was well known he was a huge injury risk. I’m fine if they keep cousins at a lower cost that allows them to majorly upgrade the OL and keep the special skill players they have. But at this dollar amount, they can’t afford the necessary pieces to limit Cousins’ liability.

I do not know why but I feel like New Orleans is the best draw the Vikings could ask for of the other 5 teams. With that said I have zero playoff exceptions. Going to need a better QB to do super bowl things.

Really? I think it's about the worst. Placing one of the most efficient and consistent passing offenses in the league against our porous pass defense. We're gonna need our offense to be clicking right out of the gate, and to stay that way, 'cuz the defense is gonna give up points.

I'd take Brady White from Memphis if he's still there in the 3rd round.
I'd like white or Jordan Love in the 3-5 round range, if Jacob eason is still there in 3, I think you take him immediately. But it seems like there is going to be a handful taken in the first 2 rounds, and a bit of a drop after that.

Out of curiosity, what are Vikings fans opinions on cousins sitting out week 17?

I got into it a little with a Vikings fan because they were ******** and tagging on Cousins sitting, calling him a quitter and a baby, when I just don’t see the disadvantage to sitting your starter if your spot in the playoffs is already guaranteed no matter what happens.

Resting all the starters was the right choice.
