Vikings fans...

Out of curiosity, what are Vikings fans opinions on cousins sitting out week 17?

I got into it a little with a Vikings fan because they were ******** and tagging on Cousins sitting, calling him a quitter and a baby, when I just don’t see the disadvantage to sitting your starter if your spot in the playoffs is already guaranteed no matter what happens.
No reason to risk injury. If Sean Mannion was the starter this weekend then we would definitely lose. If Kirk plays well we have a shot. If he wanted to play for a quarter to stay sharp then i would've understood but anymore than that seems silly.

I was all for it. Get your starters healthy knowing you won't have a bye in the playoffs. Another reason I actually liked it, and this is the pessimistic fan in me, was that Cousins has regularly struggled against the bears and we just put up a stinker on Monday night against your biggest rival. Some would say, get him back out there and see how he can right the ship. I was of the thinking, you won't be your offense without Dalvin (who was known as out on Sunday) and the Bears D is formidable. If you go out there and put up another stinker, it almost digs your QB and offensive groups mindset into a deeper hole. Rest cousins, get your mind right, and work with the 1st teamers for a week as if it were a normal bye week, starting Monday.

That is weak minded, i know. I'm sorry to all fball players who have never even had that thought cross their mind hahaha

Glad to see y’all are on the same page. I’m not a Vikings fan, so I thought maybe I was missing something. This person is a rabid fan, but in regards to loyalty to the team. I don’t think they’re overly knowledgeable of the actual game.

Feel like this is about 65% of the most rabid fans of teams.

Cousins is one of the most durable QBs out there, but it's not about being a quitter. It was easily the smart choice just to take the risk out anyway. The start and game was meaningless.

They could've gave him a pity start for a play or series or whatever, but it appears he does not care about that. Rest was 10/10 the correct choice, they had nothing to play for anyway.

The simple question to ask this guy was "what do they gain by playing Cousins?".

The only correct answer is "nothing", and that's why playing him was not sensible. Any other opinion is just objectively wrong IMO.

The only valid reason I can come up with is ticket holders paying to see a second string team. But that’s a pretty weak argument.

That's a known risk of being a ticket holder, or at least it should be. Ticket value is always variable based on pregame conditions. Weak argument indeed.

Sounds like one of many Vikings fans that decided the day the ink dried on Cousins' contract that he wasn't worth the money and have been worked into a lather the entire time he's been here.

I thought it was 100% the right move. There was absolutely no incentive to play the starters, and we still almost won with a team full of backups. I think it was inspiring to the starters to watch the back ups play and come a blown 4th and long away from a come-from-behind win over a division rival.

If something had happened to any of those guys who sat in a game that meant nothing, the same people complaining about it would be losing their minds about the decision to let them play.

I mean, I’m a 49ers fan. If they had locked home field the week before, for example, and the game against Seattle meant nothing, I probably would have been pissed if they played Jimmy G and risked him getting hurt.

Saints rolling pretty good right now but do like from a mentality standpoint that pretty much no one is picking the Vikings. Vikes can come in and just "let if fly".

I was surprised when I saw Zimmer bring up that NFL Twitter account Playoff video omitting the Vikings from it entirely, on his own.

Yep, saw that too. I'm sure he is drilling the "no one thinks we can win" talk into the players this week.

Good job by the defense after the turnover to hold them to 3 points.

Defense was doing great until that 50 yard pass. Run offense has been good as well, lots of effective stretch running. Pass offense...less than desirable so far.

Got fortunate there on the missed kick. Overall I think Vikes have controlled most of this game. Hopefully continues in 2nd Half.
