Urban Meyer gives Texas his answer...

How weird would it have to be to be Tom Herman right now? Still technically having a job, and maybe continuing to have it, but knowing your employer is out playing the field?

It's like the "maybe we need to spend some time apart" of college football.

Obviously apples to oranges from a program perspective, but UT trying to dump MENSA reminds me of Nebby canning Bo Pelini after he averaged 9 wins a season for several years. Texas will bottom out with Herman at 8 wins and maybe reach 10 over the next 3 years. UT fans can cry me a freakin river

When he was coaching here there were major rumors of him fooling around with college chicks while married , so I guess karma is a possibility?

I would be ok if my boss was looking to replace me - knowing if i get fired, they still owe me $15MM. More time for golf

LOL...exactly...i thought the same thing as I saw reports of Prez/AD talking...but then again, at that level, there are agents involved and we all know Tom did the same thing as a candidate (his people talking to schools that may have openings).

"I mean, we are still set to go to Prom together later this month....but don't throw away your receipts for your rentals" lol

What Texas fans don't understand.... UM has a cushy job on Fox and is still employed making $100K a year at tOSU. Why would he want to go back into coaching with the stress when he doesn't need to. What is funny is Texas fans gave (idk, maybe tOSU fans already did) Urban Meyer the acronym, CUM, for Coach Urban Meyer .

I'm sure Herman is just fine with it. The question is just how this will affect his performance. If you had a golden parachute and your employer was openly looking for your replacement, how enthusiastic would you be to put in that overtime?

Add in that his job is now harder because this is going to hang over him as he tries to recruit. This has been handled poorly all around by the Texas AD, to no one's surprise.

This was my first thought as well. How much trepidation would you have as a recruit or parent of a recruit if you saw your potential Head Coach was being recruited over by the administration? That said, it's Texas so probably won't affect those whose blood runs burnt orange.

He's a tool, don't get me wrong. But there are also some fairly strong rumors him and his wife are in an open marriage.

Now that it's out there that they got shot down, his agent may be able to use that as leverage for an extension.

It puts UT in such a weird position. Imagine trying to recruit when it's very publicly out there they are looking for a replacement. It's at that point of either fire him or double down on him.

The Texas fans are going to keep complaining that Mensa is only going to have the 15th highest recruiting class and not the #1 class. The Texas fans get what they deserve.
