I can understand most all of the sentiments expressed here on both sides.
One thing I wanted to come here and say, is that I find it incredibly classy of Iowa State to hold the moment of silence. Classy isn't even the right word for it.
This week has really had me examining a lot of the things I have said and written through the years surrounding this rivalry...much of that has been intentionally over the top, to stir the pot. As much as I do dislike contrivance, this week and tweaking Iowa State fans got the best of me.
I've deserved all of the grief ISU fans have thrown my way, and if some continue to throw it my way until I stop seeing it, that's in bounds, too.
Do I still want Iowa to beat Iowa State? Heck yes. But the silly rhetoric...for the sake of trolling Iowa State...just don't know that I will have it in me, especially in light of how Iowa State is paying a tribute to an Iowa Hawkeye on Saturday with their gesture, the number of Cyclones who tweeted out about Tyler Sash, Fred Hoiberg favoriting one of my articles on twitter, and so many more things both known and unknown.
I have certainly been impacted by seeing Iowa State's outpouring of support.
