Tyler Sash has died

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

I can't believe there are people actually against a moment of silence. Some people take sports, and specifically this rivalry, WAY too seriously. We are all compassionate Iowans who (hopefully) look out for each other.

Accidently, self-inflicated, whatever, this is still a tragedy that impacted the state of Iowa and many Iowans. A moment of silence would be a nice tribute to that.

Not against a moment of silence for Tyler Sash. I merely asked if we had a moment of silence for Jason Berryman at the next Cyclone Basketball Game after his tragic death. And after Stevie Hicks death as well. I know we have not had one for Jackson Vroman.

I find it quite ironic that Iowa State would honor former athletes of our rivals IF we fail to honor our OWN Cyclone former athletes when they die. To me that would be a travesty. To honor others while ignoring our own.

I agree it's a great time to start this tradition.

Maybe we honor Jackson Vroman along with Tyler Sash. It would be shameful to leave out a member of our Cyclone family. And acknowledge all the other Cyclones who have died as well at the same time.

Dude was an Iowan that played for one of the teams playing in the biggest athletic event the state has. Give him a moment of silence.

I'm not trying to downplay any death but situational awareness is always a good thing to have.

This is a gesture to Iowa and their fans from fellow Iowans to help heal a fresh wound. It's a selfless act. If this game was at Iowa and some former ISU football player died the week of the game I think they would do this for us, and I doubt they would try to lump in some former Hawkeye basketball player that passed a few months ago.

I don't recall if we did for Berryman or Hicks but I wouldn't be surprised if we did. But if one had passed away 5 days before a home football game, I'd guess we would.

But just because we haven't done it in the past doesn't mean we should never do it for someone in the future.

Hawkeye fans want the game to end. Or haven't you heard?

It would make much more sense to honor Vroman at a basketball game than a football game. And if we were going to do it at a game, it should have been the UNI game, not this Saturday.

If it was an away game, our next opponent should acknowledge it, and give a moment of silence, correct?

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

Rutland passed away right before the NDSU game last year, and I don't think anything was done.

So you want to wait several months more to honor Jackson Vroman???

Are you playing a caricature? There's no way you can be as big of a dirtbag as you have portrayed yourself throughout this thread. This is all a joke, am I right?

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

I'm of the mindset that I'd rather not see any kind of mention because sporting events are nice to get away from all this downer stuff, unless its some kind of national tragedy. There are plenty of other ways to honor him publicly and they are being done. That said, it wouldn't bother me much at all and if it would make some people happy why not do it?

Re: Tyler Sash has died?

I can't believe all the ****** in this thread. It's not like Sash died months ago. It was less than a week before the game. None of the other examples in this thread died anywhere remotely near this event. Save for Rutland, and I think there's a strong argument there

I do think it would be appropriate to honor fallen Cyclones in some way. Have a game each year where they have a moment of silence

Sash obviously had issues but was a hell of a ball player. One of the more successful ones to come out of this state.
