Been following this off and on. This is a sad day indeed. Not trying to belittle this at all, but what I think is interesting is the automatic assumption that this is murder. 30 years ago, I think the automatic assumption by most people would have been that it was some sort of accident that had happened. We go from assuming a non-violent tragedy to assuming murder, even though murder rates of children really have not increased in the past 30 years. (But every child murder that does happen gets near world-wide publicity. Maybe that's the answer right there)
