Two missing girls

Unless the killer is caught, we may never really know what happened. The son of a former neighbor of mine was found dead. Police withheld some details (like his hands had signs of being bound) and said they thought it suicide. They wanted the killer to relax and let something slip. Sadly, hasn't happened. And no one except the family and a few friends know the truth. Everyone else thinks he jumped off a bridge.

I dont begrudge the police from doing it. They need to use every trick they can. But it just shows how difficult it is to catch a killer.

TV/Movies have probably made it very difficult for criminal investigators - they're expected to have all these neat tricks and gadgets that make solving crime quick and easy. Then family/friends/community start getting angry when the police can't wrap it up in 60 minutes like on tv.

I can tell you right now that there is not really anyone upset about how the police are handling this up here. Hell, there are still posters of these girls everywhere in the Cedar Valley. They're still in cars, there was a vigil for them just a few weeks ago as well. Hell, we have a poster of them at our school still, and neither one would even be in the building for a few years. I have yet to hear one peep about the police withholding details. We all just wanted closure in one way or another, and that was essentially it.

To those of you making jokes in this thread a few pages back, **** off. Just because you don't live near the area doesn't make it alright for you to completely derail a thread when my entire community has been in mourning over this for nearly 6 months.
Yeah, that was pretty awkward reading.

Sad this is how it most likely ends, and I hope they catch the perpetrator to really provide some closure.

Been following this off and on. This is a sad day indeed. Not trying to belittle this at all, but what I think is interesting is the automatic assumption that this is murder. 30 years ago, I think the automatic assumption by most people would have been that it was some sort of accident that had happened. We go from assuming a non-violent tragedy to assuming murder, even though murder rates of children really have not increased in the past 30 years. (But every child murder that does happen gets near world-wide publicity. Maybe that's the answer right there)

On the other hand, they probably prevent some crime, by convincing people that the police will catch them.

The prepresser was just a little to easy to poke at. After it was started all humor was lost.

I will apologize if my statements over the pre presconfrence were offending anyone related to this event. Let it be said that I was very much interested in what was said but not in the terrible result and any comment made by me that was misconstrued or inappropriate as it relates to these innocents live, it was wholly not intended that way, and my apologies if needed.

Still a nightmare and will be until they figure out who did this. As the parent of young kids in this area it really worries me the killer may still live among us.

Why would anyone assume other than murder? For the love of Pete that whole post is ridiculous.

Yeah, no kidding. One dead could be an accident. Not very likely that 2 would be, especially when the circumstances of their disappearance are a bit suspicious as well.

What planet do you live on? 2 innocent girls go missing for several months, then bodies are found in a timber along a river, and you think it is something besides murder? Wow.

Thoughts and prayers to all involved and the community at-large, what a sad situation. Hopefully the finding of the bodies will lead to some evidence for the people working on the case, and some sort of closure for all involved. Sad, sad deal.

I have a lot of friends with young families in the area as well. Very scary - all they did was go for a bike ride. How many parents let their kids do that every single day without a second thought (as they shouldn't have to!)? Such scum in this world :(

Yes both of them tripped and fell next to each other in the woods and died

Not to derail the thread but that's been my theory on the Jon Lacina story years ago.

Hope whoever did this gets punished accordingly. It's sickening what some people will do in this world.

I live in this area as well and my wife and I said the same thing regarding the potential of having a killer in the area. I have a boy a little younger than these girls and it's very sad and scary at the same time. Hoping justice is served.
